S1k breech seal
« on: June 28, 2007, 04:17:06 PM »
On the Gamo site, I was looking at the replacement parts and was wondering if they had a breech seal for my S1K.  Of course the shadow 1000 is not listed in the two sizes of breech seals that they have.  Can anyone tell me for sure which breech seal is used for a S1K?  The choices on the site are medium and small...

Or is there a possibility of finding these seals (orings) at the hardware store?  Specs???  :0

Na, you won't find them at the hardware store.. When looking at the pictures of the seals, the one on the right looks like it would fit the S1K, Hunter 440, and the Hunter 220. Your best bet would be to call Gamo and ask. Is your breech seal bad? Sometimes the look rough and have little raged edges but they are still good. You can check it by cocking and loading a pellet, then lay a piece of tissue paper over the breech and if it leaks then the tissue paper will blow away..:)

Good Luck

I'll make a note of that, I did the tissue test over the breech and it stayed when I fired so I'll stock up for when it really is bad...

Anyone else miffed that they charge over $2.00 for that simple little rubber grommet? And I thought the parts dept at Audi were ripping people off.

I got a replacement for my recon after emailing them that mine was a little torn. Had to send proof that I bought the gun within last 30 days. Haven't replaced mine yet since I did that test too and no air leaked, but at least I have a spare.

No, not really.

It's not "simple", meaning a standard off-the-shelf item. At least not for the "1000fps" series, it's obviously a custom part for that gun.

Gamo DOES have to make it worth their while to sell this stuff... considering the cost of stocking, handling, and shipping - I'm not gonna carp about the price.

And yes, an Audi parts department DOES rip people off (I used to be an Audi mechanic). Then again, so does pretty much everyone else.

Ya know Gene I put some spring chamber lube on it, some silicone grease on it, and then closed it up for the nite.  The next day I checked it and it had woken right up.  It was all nice and puffy just like brand new.  No black residue rubbed off from it either which would mean that it was slowly disintegrating, and I had used the wrong lubes.  After that I did the same thing to my Dianas and Storm, and woke them up too. It was a good feeling.  But I'm thinkin' that you had to be there at that time to really appreciate it... :D

Then the Hammerli X2 came and ruined everything.   :0
