QB ,once maybe

Hi all. Long time no post but this one needs to be shared too.
Ian brought the finished 375 QB Deluxe round earlier, OUR first Deluxe in the stable, herd, What is the collective noun for a group of guns??  Any how,  WOW! I'm just so impressed. The guns Ian preps are always good, this one is just, well,  better
Ok, well first it is well up his usual standard, it's shiny, the wood is grained and highly polished, even though the wood has been damaged he had to show me where. The new barrel has a deep shine, pity he didn't re do the rest of it the same. (My only criticism of the gun) It's big! It's sooooooooooooo big! Man it that gun big! It's light! Noticeably lighter than my .22. I do not know how he did that! As I now expect the bolt is light and easy, it even sounds right when I cock it, just that smooth click that all the QB he preps seem to have. The trigger has heavier that I expected, but very short and crisp, looks good in gold too. Then I took it outside, 2 gas cartridges, just like my QB. Opened the plastic box of pellets he brought, it says .22 Pile driver on the lid, NO WAY .22! You ought to see these things, not much smaller than a marble.  Each one swaged in the press, that's a job for him, not me! Loaded it, fiddly with those short fat pellets, closed the bolt, aimed, the LDC is so big it can be seen in the bottom of the scope image, not obscuring, just distracting. Squeeze the trigger, BLIMEY! Even with that LDC it's loud! Little recoil which is good ( I don't take recoil well nowadays) but felt like more kick than my .22. Left a dirty great dent in my pellet catcher at the end of the garden too! I cant believe this is under 12 foot pounds. Ian says it has a trajectory like a mortar, I think it may have the same stopping power! Right, I know what to expect this time, BLIMEY! It doesn't get any quieter with use! MMMMMM Either I missed or is that 9mm ish hole in the target 11mm now? Again, at least you wont loose this pellet behind the bolt, I'll need weight training if I shoot this rifle often, just to pick up the pellets! BLIMEY! Ok, so that hole is now about 18mm but off hand at 12 ish yards, I'm happy enough with that and the rifle!.
Conclusion.
I want I want I want, Does that cover it? It's amazing for a sub (just) 12fpe gun, powerful, accurate (no rifling!! ) and as all of his guns it looks the part too even if it does seem about 50 yards long looking down it! We agree that it is a short range gun, maybe 20 yards but if you hit something like a rat or rabbit, it will stop! We called his hot QB the Fireball when it delivered so much power, what do we call this? He says he isn't building any more of them, Well see about that! We women have our ways :)

From the work Ian has put into this elephant gun it whould be quite nice, just fun to shoot. To bad he can't crank it up a bit and not get into trouble. Keep an eye on the old coot, he'll be building something bigger and better soon. Take it easy Kiddo,

Chrissy, I did say i'm not building another, I like the exclusivity. I suppose you could borrow it, sometimes.

Mike, I'd love to turn the 375 up, more power, better trajectory etc but it just isn't worth 5 years all found at one of HM's  hotels. Licencing is also accompanied by the need for money for the application. Any way the next gun is well past the drawing board stage;-)

Since we have a lady visiting maybe we could throw the old gym socks in the laundry, pick up the other clothes and air the place out so it doesn't smell quite so much like a boars nest?

Well Chrissy aint joined a gym yet but she is taking up swimming again. Should I be worried? :)
For those who asked, pics of the completed QB Deluxe in .375 calibre.
The barrel has now been slightly tapered up to the muzzle furniture and re blued. New barrel band is complete. Hoping to take it out next week with a mate, see if there are any bunnies about, well it does need testing.

Good luck on the long eared Woolly Mammoth hunt, looks nice. How long is the barrel, looks like it's way out there.

Mike,
The barrel is 24" + 8" of extra furniture ;-)
The said furniture does appear in the bottom of the scope picture as I've had to raise the end of the barrel to improve the trajectory but that is a small price to pay. IMHO

I havent seen any wooly mamoths here but as long as they are in season when I do see one..... :-)
