sight for CFX
« on: July 02, 2007, 12:45:15 PM »
Anyone know of an adjustable receiver (peep)  sight that will attach to the scope rail of a CFX and work with the original front sight?

Thanks

Good question David.. With the front muzzle brake being so fat on the factory brake, you may have a hard time finding one that will work. But with a smaller O/D muzzle brake you may have a chance...:)

I would think that the Beeman (Williams) dovetail peep sight would work, either on the rail or on the receiver dovetails.

Thanks for the reply Gene.  I see what you mean.  I thought I saw a post from you about making a break that uses a front sight.  Is that available, and how much lower is the sight with that break?

Thanks

I would say about a 1/4" , David. That would be my guess. You may still be able to get by with the Williams peep, that Stephanie mentioned. She knows here stuff buddy..:) I certainly would not want to get into a tongue lashing contest with her.. hehe.. If you can get by with the factory brake with that peep sight, that would be a good thing. As far as putting the sights on my muzzle brakes, that I have not done yet.. I do know the degree of dove cut that Gamo uses on there sites and just need to buy the end mill tool to do the cuts. That way a person could just put there old sights on my muzzle brake when they get them. For all other air rifles I have not seen everyone of them but I have bought a lazer light in order to align the front site on a muzzle brake so it will be true with the rear sight..

Thanks again for the replies, I will try to find the Wms sight and see if there are enough specs listed to see if it will work.  I tried the Wms Gunsite page but it just got stuck and would not download the information.  I will keep looking though.

The Beeman sight is available for sale on a number of AG sites, Staightshooters, Pyramid, etc. Brownells sells it, I'm sure, and their site may have better info, maybe specs............

I have a Chinese made peep sight (sold under many brands, including Gamo I believe) which I used on an XS 78. When I tried it on the CFX, I found that due to the extra height of the scope rail, I could not lower the sight sufficiently. Don't forget, the standard rear iron sight of the CFX fits straight onto the receiver. Check out before you buy!
