After work this afternoon was puttering around down in my workshop and had the basement bilco doors open. I looked out the doors into the backyard, where I had recently put out a mess of suet cakes and seed to lure the starlings into shooting range, and saw a pigeon sitting on a branch in one of my oak trees. The pigeon was just sitting there eyeing the suet cakes and the bird seed at the base of the adjacent tree.
Grabbed my newly camo'd B-3, cocked it, popped in a GAMO Magnum pellet and assumed a shooting position near the top of the basement stairs, using the open bilco door to lean on. Distance was 30 yards. Put the crosshairs on the birds neck, squeezed, and a second later heard the "POP" as the magnum pellet hit home. Bird fell like a stone. I've taken game with this B-3 before, but this was the first kill since she got her new clothes. :)
Couldn't take a pic,,, the wife was home and she has a rule about "backyard" hunting unless I'm shooting starlings, besides, it started raining right after I nailed the bird. It doesn't take to long for the starlings to find the suet cakes after I put them out so by the time I get home from work tomorrow afternoon I should have some decent starling hunting and I think I'll use the mighty B-3 again :)
