The long awaited Crosman Destroyer pellet
« on: July 05, 2007, 10:32:09 AM »
arrived today :D via D+R sports. First off the tin seemed to big for the 250 pellets that are in it. I thought OH BOY, some of these pellets are going to be damaged from all the movement from shipping and the outer packaging of the tin was all bent up. But to my surprise I could not find one deformed pellet....yet. My first thought upon looking at the Destroyer was it's sleek design. My aging eyes could not really find a seam in any of the pellets. It's design and size is very close to the Gamo Tomahawk.

I put about 75-100 pellets through my scoped S1K with DA Trigger installed shot from a pillow rest. First thought,...pretty darn good! The pellets fit smoothly in the breech with only a few that seemed to fit "loosely". Grouping at 70feet were very good and consistant. Compared to the Gamo Tomahawk I would say that the Crosman Destoyers beats them hands down as far as accuracy, fit, and over-all consistancy goes. The one thing I do not like about them is the "dirty fingers you get from handling them. This seems to be a problem with all Crosman pellets that I have encountered.

The only pellet that beats the Destoyer as far as accuracy is concerned in my S1K is the JSB hollow-point and Preditor. The JSB's still group better than the Destroyer's and are more consistant. All in all, in this quick review, I think the Crosman Destroyer is a winner. I think most of you will like them alot. They are a great alternative to the more expensive JSB's and I look forward to your posts once you try em' out. They should be a really great hunting pellet to boot.

Enjoyed the review Greg.  You got me anxious now to get the destroyers that I ordered from DNR.  If you got yours then the ones Shadow  and I ordered should be coming within the next day or so.   I'm really glad to hear they were shooting accurately.

I've been dying to try em out at the duck farm and see how they perform.  Hope They come tomorrow cause I have time in the afternoon for another duck farm hunt.  :)

Hey thanks gang. I was surprized to get them before Jeff and Ed because they ordered them before I did. Go figure :o . I did run about 5 pellets through my CFX and they shot 5" low as I have the CFX sighted in for the Preditor's. Even so the five shot group was ragged and tight. My S1K was sighted in for the JSB hollowpoints, but 3 clicks up of elevation was all it took to put em in the 10 zone. Good luck with your Destroyers when you finally get em'  :emoticon:

Thanks Greg,,,, now you're really making me anxious to get em  !!

I've been checking all day for the UPS/FEDEX guy, like ever 20 minutes or so, but the pellets never came today.  Oh well, hopefully tomorrow.  :)

Just curious,, did DNR send you an email letting you know they were shipped???  thanks.

Jeff yes they did send me an e-mail when UPS picked them up along with a tracking #. I recieved them 3 days after they notified me. Pretty good considering a holiday was in the middle of it all. Hope you get em' today :emoticon:

Hey Greg,

I haven't gotten any email yet so I guess I'll be waitin awhile.  I know they had gotten a shipment in but I'm thinking now maybe they didn't get in enough to fill all their backorders, of which I was one.  Oh well, will  wait and see what happens, don't have any other choice anyway   :0

I'll call em on Monday and see what's up,,,, I know a couple of other places that have them in stock, can always order from them....

Hey Ed,

I just checked my credit card account,,,, DNR charged my account on July 3rd and I know they don't charge your account until they fill your order, so they should be arriving soon.  You ordered yours the same time as me so we'll probably get em about the same time.  I guess the July 4th holiday maybe screwed things up for us.  Oh well,,,, we''ll be slinging those destroyers soon buddy !!

I've had my 2 tins since last week thursday ordered from pyramid shortly after they got in stock. And just as I ordered them, the tomahawks went out of stock, so had to cancel those. (didn't update website-idiots). I wanted to compare the 2, if only I knew how.

I haven't even shot them yet as I have some crosman sharpies left over still. Not even sure if my gamo recon can make the best of them since most reports say it needs over 700-800fps of punch for them to deform.
