Daisy No.25 BBgun Rebirth
« on: July 15, 2007, 09:29:49 AM »
Here she is, the Daisy No.25 BBgun. She didn't look like this when my dad gave it to me to see if I could save her. All the metal was rusted badly and the cocking bar was missing a bolt at the muzzle end. Now to the inside, scary is all I can say when I pulled her apart, also a rust bin. I went to work on all the moving part's, first cleaning then polishing including the trigger which was missing the spring, I had to order one from Daisy for $7.00. This is the first year that the No.25 went to plastic stock's, 1930's It has a rubber piston seal which was in great shape, surprizing to me thought it would be leather. Orginaly the gun was oiled through a small hole at the top of the barrel, no more. I gave her the special airgun lubes treatment which should last for many moon's. The main spring and spring BAR guide was also polished and everything had to be put back in a certain order, found that out after I found a manual on it . I shot her with flat black and a coat of matte clear, left the stock and cocking arm alone, just a little wax and buff . I had to go out and buy BB's hehe to see what she would do and headed up to the chrony. Report's say that the Daisy No.25 would put out 250 to maby 300fps, she's pushing 330fps not bad for this ol girl and she cock's and fires so smooth now. It would have been worth more money left stock but she was in a bad way, didn't fire or cock and was just a rusty relic. I gave her a second chance I gess. Ed

Very Nice Ed,

It's good to hold on to parts of your youth, and you did a beautiful job on her.

And even souped her up a little !

"owner's manual required hehe"

Bet you didn't need it.  Your knowledge and ability are impressive.  Wish I had some of either, lol.  Best, David

Looks great, Ed. Glad there's someone else besides me that still has one of their first BB guns. When I researched mine, bought new in 1962 and looks just like yours(OK not as pretty), they advertised 385 fps. I doubt mine shoots anywhere near that now, as I can watch the BB's come out. Maybe I'll have to strip mine down for a "lube tune". I always wondered how it worked.  Are other parts still available? perhaps Maccari has a new spring kit, hahahahhahaha.

Here's the pic of mine, Ed, no engraving, just a stencil, so much for progress.
