Problem with my CFX .22 and a couple questions.
« on: July 16, 2007, 03:29:34 PM »
I've had the rifle for a little over a month now and it's great. Especially after the lube tune deburring and the new trigger. But today I found a problem...

Today is the first time I've cleaned the barrel since I've had the gun. I was using a homemade patch worm and Hoppe's Patches. I kept feeling the patch hang up just before it came out of the muzzle and the final patch came out with a hole in it. After looking down the muzzle I can see a spot about 2 inches back and about an inch long... A niiiice gouge. Looks like someone hammered something down the barrel crooked.

I guess that explains the groups I was getting. I kept reading about how the CFX's are 1 holers at 20 yards. Mine was more like an inch & a half. I thought this was just because it was a .22 . Well, I guess I was wrong.

Now here's the question.... Can the barrel on these be replaced??? If not, then how much of the barrel can I safely cut back & recrown???

Send it back to Gamo is your best bet. They will replace barrel or the whole air rifle..

I believe once you open the rifle up and change the trigger, warranty is void as well.

I've already opened mine up and tuned it.

Installing the GTX in the Gamo will not void the warrenty but if you send it back you want to be sure to reinstall the original trigger. The reason is, they will probably send you another gun and you won't get it back. Gamo has throughly tested the GRT (17 of them in fact) and has no problem with them. If you call Gamo with a trigger complaint there is a good chance that they will refer you to the CDT website and the GRT.
