QB 78 Deluxe's Arrived :)
« on: July 18, 2007, 12:13:09 PM »
It's been a dreary, rainy, wet and windy day here today, all day !!  We had rains so hard it was amazing to watch.  Basically a lousy day that found me sitting home with nothing to do and not enthused about to much.  Then everything changed !!!!

I heard the doorbell ring and upon opening the door saw the postman standing there holding a very large package that I instantly recognized as 2 air rifle boxes taped securely together.  My heart started to race as the postman told me I had to sign for the package.   I signed the little slip, grabbed my spoils and headed down to the basement.

There they were, my new QB78-Deluxe rifles, one in .177 and one in .22, straight from Mike at Flying Dragon Air Rifles.  I inspected both rifles and they were both absolutely gorgeous.  Both stocks had a beautiful rich stain on them that was flawless.  Not a ding, dent, compression mark or scratch on em, just beautiful.  The metal on both rifles was just as nice.  Beautiful blueing that was deep and consistent.  I was so thrilled I almost had tears in my eyes  :)

I haven't had a chance to shoot either one yet, stupid rain,,,,, but I did brave the elements and picked up a 40 pack of C02 cartridges, so as soon as the rain stops I'll start doing some shooting.
I'll do a complete review after I get to spend some time shooting the guns. I  Have 2 scopes on my workbench that will be mounted probably tomorrow.

I can't thank Mike enough.  The turn around time from initial order to delivery was fantastic and like I said above the rifles are beautiful.  Mike enclosed the test target with each rifle and both the .177 and .22 shot a beautiful group at 20 yards, and that was with open sights.  Mike said the .177 was shooting 780 with gamo hunters.  Not quite sure what the .22 shot, I'll find out when I chrony it.

Anyway, thanks again Mike.  Fantastic service to say the least !!

Jeff

It's a shame that they didn't come earlier, you could have missed all that rain, down in the shop !

Do you think you will put a full shroud on them ? "Q"

And did you have Mike do any of his Magic on them ???

Good luck with them buddy !

Tahts so cool Jeff I am happy for you!! Now you will see what I mean by being good "Break" guns. When you are shooting a lot with your springers we all get a little tired from cranking barrels and levers. These guns give you a break from that without losing much power from the magnum springers hehe. So maybe you hurt your shoulder, back, arm, neck or whatever... the Qb's can be shot with little physical effort.

Well you still have to walk over and pick up your game unless you've hit the order button on a hunting dog hehe. Ed

Thanks everyone.  Can't wait to shoot em :)

Bill, to answer your question..... yes...... I had Mike do a full tune on both rifles.  I told him both rifles would be used for hunting so I asked him to tune them for the maximum power possible while still maintaining the accuracy needed for hunting.  Looking at the 20 yard test targets Mike packed with the rifles it's plain to see they certainly are accurate.  Beautiful tight groups,,, and Mike shot those those with open sights, which really impressed me !!  As for a full shroud,,,, I think I'll just leave em the way they are,, I really like the way they look as is.....

Anyway, if the weather hold out today I'll be able to get in some shooting, but the weatherman is saying we're gonna get more torrential downpours,,,, hope he's wrong.

I'll post some pics of the rifles and my first targets as soon as I can.
