Gamo 440

I see the post on the Bargan Gate about Natchz having Gamo 440 for $120. Is this a discontinued rifle ? I don't see it listed under Gamo's web site. Is this a bargain @ this price? I know there are a lot of members out there with them listed in their arsenal. I only have one airgun,  CFX in .22 . Could this be the beginning of an addiction?

The 440 is based on the same action as anything else in the "1000fps" Gamo line. It has a nice stock but the sights aren't that great (course adjustment, sideways freeplay, and limited vertical travel).

$120 is a bang-up price for the rifle... when new, it went for around $200 (which, IMHO, was a bit overpriced).

Tuned or untuned looking at maybe getting one for my brother and tuning it and a new trigger. I was hoping it would turn 850 with CPL's or FTS

Same action as the S1K and the 220, mine both did high 800's with CPHP's as they came out of the box.  I have an actual chrony string on my computer at home that I can post when I get home from work.  Oops, back to work:)

What are the differences between the 440 and the 220? Is the 220 discontinued too? They were both around last Christmas, weren't they?

The 220 has a plainer stock that is also shorter and generally not finished as nicely. Preferable for people with shorter arms. Also, there's no rubber buttpad, so the 220 might tend to slip around on the shoulder a bit.

The rear sights are also different... the sight on the 220 is actually superior.  The top of the breach blocks are machined differently... on the 220 it's flat, on the 440 it's rounded, so the rear sights do not interchange.

The trigger guard on the latest 220's might be plastic, while the 440 is metal with sharp edges.

Edit: Almost forgot, this was using Joel Lively's chrony at about 3 feet from the muzzle.  This was also a month or so prior to Steve Corcoran shooting this very same chrony with his Air Arms S410:)  Just letting you know in case you are concerned with the accuracy of this particular chrony....plus I still think that was one of the highlights of my airgun hobby....I borrowed the chrony from Joel, kept it for 6 months, then Steve shot it, and I took it back to Joel since it was no good anymore....that's what airgun buds are for:)

Gene,  I think with a signiture of what you have,  you wouldnt have time for any other addictions !!    Ive barely got a fraction of your collection, and have a hard time getting out to shoot the things.   Two more comin next week dosent help.    I just hope to stay out of the doghouse with the wife, as someone put in in another post.  
She already calls my PC   'the concubine'  since im always messing around with it..   I swear I will stop buying after this last order.

  Thanks for that info. Those are some impressive velocity numbers for a 200 gun. My Webley Vulcan couldn't turn those kind of numbers even after the tune. I think the 440 may work for my little project.

Just ran a few over the chrony.... 5 "warm-up" pellets, then: 905, 902, 903, 913, and 902 fps.

This was with CPL's in a bone-stock 440 with a few hundred pellets through it.

Any Shadow/220/440/derivative that can't do well over 850 with this pellet is, well, not runnin' right.
