My CFX's First Kill
« on: July 22, 2007, 10:54:10 AM »
I just put a new scope & Gene's awesome muzzle brake on the CFX; I've had Bob's trigger on it for a while now... I couldn't hold out any longer... I had to kill a critter.

I was in my backyard and looked over at the pooch, Bubba, and saw a chipmunk chewing on something by a tree. I got Bubba in the house and got the CFX out of the case, loaded it up with a Crow Mag. I Walked back outside and suprisingly, the chipmunk was still there. I was about 15 yards away and "I raised the rifle to my... never stopped to wonder why". Flipped the safety off and pulled the trigger.... fwack, I hit it and it was wriggling around for a few seconds then started to assume ambient temperature.

The CFX is a virgin no longer :)

Check out Gene's muzzle brake:

Nice shooting but it's always nice to get the first kill with a virgin gun ain't it.

Way to go Howard...:) Nice shot placement buddy. Were you standing when you shot him or using something to steady your CFX? I bet you heard a nice thump when you hit him..

Thanks everyone.

Gene, I sat down and rested my arms on the patio table. I am thinking the shot was a bit high. Hopefully this weekend I'll have time to get  more critters.

Yeah 88, I was very surprised he was still there when I came back outside.
