Had Nothing Better To Do
« on: July 22, 2007, 11:03:46 AM »
So I took the shadow out for a quick shoot saw plenty out but was only able to shoot a hand full of them.
This is the time of year I love to hate I really don't look forward to winter at all I like the end & thats it shooting is ok in winter but you have to go further out each time to make it worth it so roll on spring and let the good shooting times begin.
the possum in this shot I took at a little over 30 meters & no I don't take a tape measure I take a long step to measure I tried it with a meter long ruler & a long stride is just over a meter so there you go was it one shot yes indeed it was which was the amazing thing as I had not been able to hit a bloody thing all night until this guy looked at me & I was actually aiming at his head but got him straight through the chest so it must have hit the heart.
what this teaches me is not to play around with my scope on club days and forget to set it back DOH.

Nice Sean and I almost forgot it is headed for winter down there. I love the winter hunt here in S.D. and there's still lot's of game to be taken. Again fine shootin and pic and I dig that custom stock. Ed

A very long time ago they use to eat them but now they are the main carrier of TB in NZ so it is unsafe to eat you even have to be careful handling them. I was told by a pest controlling company many years ago if you were to cut through an affected Cyst/Gland containing TB that you can get it just by inhaling it weather that is true or not is another matter but I should research it a little more as I handle these things all the time.

Real Good Shootin there Sean,

TB is airborne ! We Pasteurise, (heat up)milk due to the chance of TB, but we still drink milk. :^)

I have always been careful of rabies in our rodents and foxes, as I had to undergo three of those shots, in the stomach. Call it the foxes last great act of defiance ! But he sure made his point...

Anyway Sean Great shootin, Great story, and great Photo !
