Finally shot the QB78-D .22
« on: July 27, 2007, 07:01:42 AM »
Had a little time before I had to go to work today so I decided to test out my Flying Dragon tuned .22 QB78-D.  I was gonna test shoot the .177 rifle, but the new scope on it isn't sighted in yet and I didn't have time to sight it in, so I decided to try out the .22 instead since it still has the open sights set up on it.

I went outside, popped in 2 CO2 cylinders, loaded a pellet and aimed at my spinning target 20 yards away and pulled the trigger.  All I can say is  OH MY GOD !!!!   I don't even know how to describe how much I love this gun !!

I really didn't know what to expect, having no experience whatsoever with C02 rifles, but when I pulled that trigger the first time and the gun fired and the spinning target "pinged" and started spinning I just stood there staring at the gun with this huge smile on my face.  I simply couldn't believe how smooth the gun was, the fact that there was no recoil, and especially the power of this thing.  I spent about 30 minutes blasting the metal out of a large tin can, at times the can would literally fly 2 or 3 feet up in the air after being hit.  I tried finding one of the tree rats bird feeder bandits that are always in one of my trees, figured I'd give him a test shot, but don't you know it was the first time in I don't know how long that I couldn't find a tree rat in my yard  :(
I am really impressed, to say the least, with the tuning job Mike Melick from Flying Dragon Air Rifles did on this gun.  I can't wait to install the scope I have put aside for the gun.  Tomorrow is my day off and I can't wait to spend some time in the backyard with the .177 rifle he did for me.  I have no doubt it will be as nice as its big brother  :)

Gonna sight in the scope on the .177 tomorrow and try and get to the duck farm to do some C02 hunting.    :)

That 177 is going ot sweep the duck farm by storm. After you really get into the swing of shooting it you will beable to take anthing from 10-45ish yards (birds that is) and not have to worry a bit about hold over/under. Mike shure dose a killer job on the qb"s dont he :)

Keep us updated on your fun jeff.

Only thing I can say is Ditto Jeff...:) Yes there is a big difference in shooting them and a springer. They are a pleasant change of pace and everyone should own one if the shoot allot of springers..:) I have two of the QB 79's and one has been tuned by CDT and I love it as well. I especially like the 88cc Co2 bottle which gives me over 300 shots.. hehe. Anyway hope you get a bunch of cridders tomorrow and can't wait to see your post..

Hello everyone and sorry to ask an off topic question.

The question being, can a QB-78 be converted to HPA and not use CO2?

Thanks

To answer your question as a yes or no question, the answer is yes. It's not hard to do but can get a little expensive. Just exactly what it will take and cost, I'm not sure yet but I am in the process of finding out and will do at least one of my QB's... probably the 78-T model.

HPA Setup

Hi Roy,

Here's a "down and dirty" QB79 HPA setup.

This is a standard male paint ball (to quick connect) adapter screwed into the QB.

These parts were used and laying around under the local paint ball shop's work bench.

Just remember the tube for the gas is only good for about 1000 psi, if you want to run any higher pressure you will have to get some tubing rated for that pressure and make your own tube.
