Hmmm I abuse my Gerber pocket knife at work on a consistant basis. I love the knofe its one of there paraframe jobbers. As far as sharpening goes, I have tried several methods to which I have found one that works perfect for me. But first let me explain some things. This knife is used as a multipurpose tool. I cut everything from rubber airline hose, tyvek paint suits, used as a marker on aluminum sheeting, also used as a prybar, pick, and a bread/roll slicer. I use an inexpensive diamond rod that puts the perfect edge on it for what I use it for. The edge is not sharp enough to shave with and if it was it wouldnt last long because of the way I use the knife. But it is very sharp for what I do use it for. Approximately 10 minutes of sharpening with the diamond rod and it is good for a month. I think I got my last rod at Wally world for like 8 bucks. I can sharpen it to razer edged nastiness but in doing so the edge doesnt last long while cutting through thick cardboard or plastics. SO I put the edge on that I do and I get decent daily use out of it for a month.
