A buddy of mine went and bought a 440 from a sportings good store and it was terrible. Very little power. We assumed that it was a demo that had been dry fired. So we took it back the next day and got a different one. Much better. Other than that, I haven't seen a bad one.

I bought a refurbed S1k a few months back that was terrible.  It dieseled so bad it sounded like a 22 rimfire.  I sent it to Da Tuna for a tune and he discovered that the barrel was bent.  It couldn't be fixed--so we had to send it back.  Since then I have bought another refurbed S1k and a CFX, and they both look like they are brand new.  They both shoot hard and straight with their GTX II triggers.

I have heard the horror stories about the refurbs, but the guys who tried again always come back with good stories. Glad you tried it again.

Gamo's may not be the best Springers but with alittle TLC and some added dollars they are as good as some of the $400.00 and $500.00 air guns sold out there. That's my opinion... :) The best part is when you buy a refurb and you do get a decent one, then the cost is not nearly as much as if you buy a new one and then put extra money on top of it to refine it..

I love both my .177 and .22 Hunter 440’s. Especially, the new one (.22) which has a beautiful, reach wood grain stock, not common for a Gamo….and they are very accurate shooters. Maybe some day I will buy some other airguns, but I’ll never sell these twins. They know it and they love me back :)

right down to the packageing and inserts. The gun looked perfect (and still does) and i could'nt even tall there was something wrong origionally. Needless to say I was a very happy camper.
I gave the scope away and set the gun up with a nice peep sight and alum pickle and its one of the best shooters in my collection!
