Another Shadow Hunt
« on: August 06, 2007, 01:53:01 PM »
Well after a long day at work I needed to relax and I know of only one way, HUNTING!. I changed into some camo, grabbed the QB-78.177 and a tin of Predator's and headed out to the Grove of tree's. The half a mile walk through the wheat field with the temp at 88 deg. warmed her up and ready to hunt. Upon reaching the grove of tree's I took a moment and chambered a Predator and headed in making sure not to step on twig's etc. and giving myself away. The stealth payed off, I spotted a squirrel grooming himself on a deadfall at about 30 yard's. I slowly went to one knee and from there down to the ground. Up on my elbow's I placed the crosshair's on his head, flipped the safety off and sent a Predator away. On impact he just stiffened and dropped of the deadfall, a couple quiver's followed but it was over in second's. I stepped out my yard's to my harvest, sorry my mistake 45 yard's hehe. The Predator entered below his ear and as you can see there was no damage control. Picked up my harvest and headed home, no more stress and dinner to boot. Ed

Good story and good shooting.  Exactly how many squirrels live there?  LOL.  I would think you have put a serious dent on the population there.  Good job, David

Great shootin Ed. What a combo stress relief and dinner. I see why the camo comes together so well. I agree with Big Bill I can't hunt (wouldn't eat the city creatures anyway) so I read and hang on every word. Keep them coming

Thank's guy's  and for you all that can't get out and hunt, I take a little part of you with me when I'm in the wood's hunting. No hustle and bustle just a slight breeze, enough to cool you and the sound's of Mother Nature at work. As you sit in your hide with your pride and joy in your hand's, you wait for that moment when everything come's together. The game appear's and your heart speed's up a little but you've been here before so you relax and set your sight's. All is still in your mind as you find the smallest target on your game, not the head but the eye. The trigger is squeezed , the messenger find's it's mark  and a smile form's on your face. All is right with your world once again. Ed

Oh no, Randy, let's think about this thing for a minute!! As you get a little longer in the tooth like some of us, you'll figger out that it takes a real man* to come up that kinda verse (of course, I know you're just funnin' with Ed ;~). And remember, chicks also dig guys who can spout poetry.

Before you know it YOU'LL be quotin' verse back to US- heck, I'll bet you'll be askin' Gene to set up a Poetry Gate- LOL!!!

* and of course, that includes real women too!

Bryan

PS- By the way, Ed, that was some kinda amazing imagery you came up with.
