« on: August 13, 2007, 08:12:35 PM »
The scope rail on my Shadow 1000 has a wobble arrrrr and It's the rail that seems to be pressed on to the receiver not the type that slides on over the dovetail grooves now the problem is that I don't know if the rail is screwed from the inside of the receiver or if it is pressed on somehow has anybody encounterd this problem or type of rail any help would be much appreciated.

Sean, I am not sure how that one is attatched, but I do have a couple of possible solutions. You could try a 2 part epoxy to glue it back down, might work for a little while. If you have grooves under the rail take it off and mount scope, may have to reblue under rail. Gamo just started selling the clamp on rails, get one and swap them out, probably the best of the 3. HTH wish I knew more.

Sean,

Can you send a pic of the scope mount setup you have? It would help to diagnose the problem.

Damage,

Could you try  " Silver Soilder " . I have a RWS Model 5 Magnum with the scope rail put on this way and it works great.

Don't think it's screwed in - I don't remember anything protruding inside the chamber in my 440 (which also has the rail).

The Chinese-built B4-2 always had a notoriously bad mount for a scope, the rail was held on at the rear by a spring clip! "GOOP" glue was the stuff that was always recommended for holding the rail down. It's a strong adhesive, and the glues joint isn't as brittle as epoxy can be.

I suspect it would help here.

Sean, it may well be spot welded or plug welded on mate.  I can't imagine it being glued or screwd on. If it were mine i'd drill down through the rail till it just hits the outside of the cylinder and then plug weld it on.
