Ok Paul...... I tried the dime target shoot at 40 yards with 10 consecutive shots. I used RWS Superdomes .22, 14.45 gr pellets. Scope used was a BSA 2-7X32 AO.  Woke up this morning at 5:00 AM and sucked down 2 cups of coffee. Went to the garage where I had set up my shooting bench for this mornings test. Around 6:00AM it was light out enough to start in. Target was in place from last night so I lined up and started in. Well I think the difference in temperature yesterday and this morning threw my POI off a bit so after the first set of 10 I adjusted the windage to the right about 2 clicks. It was very calm with no wind at all. The BSA scope is not a bad scope but I really had to focus to see good..:) I set the magnification all the way up to 7. This 32 scope is not as sensitive on high magnification as the most of the BSA 3-12X 40 AO's that I use which generally are set to around 6 or 7 magnification. Any higher and they are not steady or it probably is me..:)

I thought I gave out the wrong chrony numbers on my last post for this air rifle so I checked them again on the chrony. Here they are as I recorded the numbers.

807.8
812.2
799.6
801.8
803.9
810.5
802.8
798.2
804.2
805.7
811.5
8.10

Below are the pics of the target I shot. I started on upper left and worked to the right.

Hey Paul, I think he is just using the rest for pics. The last pic it looks like 2 peices of thick pipe ins taped down with duct tape, for a shooting rest.

Darn fine shootin' Gene! I am amazed at the velocity you are getting from that rifle, what a hard hitter. It is also very nice that it shows what a relatively inexpensive rifle can do if tuned and set up properly and in the hands of a competent marksman. Wow, one really doesn't have to have a $2000.00 rifle, a $600.00 scope and $1200.00 of accessories to shoot well...............Who'd of thought?   8)

That is very good shooting - I would take those groups any day.  And, it looks like that rifle is hitting hard, a perfect small game choice.

Damn, Gene, not only impressive shooting, but impressive numbers!  According to my chrony spreadsheet, your numbers average 805.68 fps, SD of only 4.71, spread of 13.3, and 20.91 fpe.  When Straight Shooters tested the R-9 Goldfinger .22, they got 675 fps for 15 fpe with Superdomes @ 14.5 gr.  At almost 21 fpe, that thing's on the edge of magnum territory.  My new .22 CFX is under 700 fps with Superdomes, kind of disappointing, and one of the reasons I haven't been shooting it.  BTW, remind me NOT to get in a shooting contest with you :-)!  Later.

LOL Dave, Ya I was talking to Ed this morning before he went to work and I had told him, I thought I had given the wrong numbers for the Gamo Black Shadow Supreme .22 in an earlier post. I use a piece of paper un till it is full when I am recording numbers on the chrony, so I was thinking maybe I gave the wrong numbers and that is why I re-tested this morning. This particular Gamo has about 2000 rounds through it. I generally shoot my .20 and .177's at paper. And as far as my CFX .22, I do not think it chronies higher than the mid to upper 700's if I remember correctly. The CFX is generally a great paper puncher as for accuracy and I contribute it mostly because of the low FPS. Peek hit it on the nail head for sure about a high end springer. These Gamo's may not have the elegance of some of the most expensive air rifles but with a good Turbo Tune, GR-III trigger installed they certainly are as accurate. And CDT always says, that Gamo is a Diamond in the rough..:) And rightfully so. Gamo has a good solid design but never finished up the job..:) Now that I am starting to gather many different air gun models, I am able to see where there short comings are and what needs attention to make them shoot even better. Anyway thanks everyone for you kind words..:)

Hey,

Where can I get that red shooting rest? It looks really good and I think I could use it.

Thanks,
Robert

The rest I uses is this one. I also forgot to mention in my post that I do 99% of my paper from a sitting position..:) So that makes it a world of difference than standing.. hehe Here is a picture of what I always use to shoot from.

Where did you get or build the rest? Thanks Right now I have an old metal stool, a piece of 3/4 plywood clamped on and a meatal tilting chair. I think I could stand an upgrade. Height adjustment would be a big improvement.

Good shooting Gene! I'm not sure if I should be more impressed by the shooting, or the numbers! Thats up there for a 22. Dang.
