QB in the Shadows
« on: August 21, 2007, 12:25:08 PM »
Pretty harsh day today, between the hail storm and Tornado warning I took a break from the shop and headed for the wood's . I grabbed the QB -78.177 and a tin of Destroyers and worked my way through the wheat field which now was upto four foot and very wet from the rain earler. I made it to the grove of tree's, camo pant's soaked through...oh well that's hunting with Mother Nature. The temp had remained warm, 80 degree's so it was plenty warm for her to perform dandy. A couple day's before I thought I had some issue's with the QB, low fps after I had put fresh CO2 in her. I spoke with my good buddy Gene about it and he was thinking maby some particle's of  lead etc. had made it's way in causing it not to release CO2 properly. Took her apart, cleaned carefully and assembled, problem FIXED! thank's Gene. ANYWAY hehe I settled in behind my favorite natural camo blind, an old deadfall with brush circling it  and began popping on my squirrel call. My call's were answered in a minute , I couldn't see him yet but by the sound of his chatter's he was moving closer to scold the intruder. There he is now, up in the tree and out at about 45 yards. I gave a couple more pop's on my call, he shook his tail and came in another ten yard's and just sat there looking right in my direction. I dropped the call and slide the QB over the deadfall and with a Destroyer already loaded placed the crosshair's on the front of his head. Feeling that all was Zen I sent the Destroyer away, it found it's mark by the nice sound of a solid impact and the nutter dropping from his perch. The Destroyer did it's job, right through the mouth and exited out the back of his skull. Some worry about overpenatration, not me......shot placement. Ed

Thank's Jason, the Destroyer's do their intended job well. I've been going through my Predator's which are my #1 go to pellet so the Destroyers were getting some airtime today. They do Destroy though.};) Ed

I'm sure he would enjoy the trip. He can bring his tool set with him. There are a heap of guys down here that would love his magic hands to touch our guns. At least we can get the triggers.

Hey Ed, great read on your hunt today..:) Glad you fixed the problem with your baby...:) Hope you spanked her a bit as well for acting up.. hehe .... For sure those QB's are fantastic small game weapons.. They are almost silent to load and you can leave the pellet in the chamber as long as you want.. Ready for the right moment to sling some lead at a weary target..:)

Maybe if all of us got together and asked the airlines to give us a nice rate to go to NZ for a month they would be nice enough to oblige us,,:)

Great post and thanks for sharing buddy..

Thank's again buddy for giving me some good advice on what to look for on the QB. Yes that would be nice to get a group rate, we could fill the plane up WITH FELLOW MEMBER'S AND AIRGUN'S. Talk about a Flying Fortress LOL. Ed
