Leaper Scopes--Good prices
« on: August 23, 2007, 02:14:45 AM »

I just bought a Leapers 6x24x50AOMDLTS from this vendor for 79.95 plus shipping.  They are out of St Louis.  See below for Web Address.  They had several scopes at what looked to me as decent pricing.  If you want to purchase anything from them call them at 800-444-2550.  Ask for Valerie, she is really nice to deal with.

I looked at the scope and I wonder whether or not it is airgun rated. Most scopes that are AG rated state it. If not, there is a good chance it will  not hold up on a springer.

Bob, I have these scopes on my Diana 350s in both calibers.  They are Leapers scopes.  I thought you guys liked the Leapers scopes.  What better test for a scope than to put it on a 350M?  Mine are doing most excellent every day....

Unfortunately, most of the sites leave off the TS at the end of the model# which designates "true strength", giving us the impression that it is not true strength rated.  Same thing at Pyramid, model# doesnt have TS, but when I rcvd mine, I got the "true strength" rated scope.  Same at Galati...Rocket Man Jack (Terry) called them and made sure they were the true strength rated ones.  He just emailed me to say that he had just rcvd his scope, and it was indeed the TS model.

So lets see, a 2 lb Leapers scope on a 8.5 lb Diana 350..:) That comes out to 10.5 lbs of air rifle...:( ...  Sorry Dave I have a hard enough time pickin up an 8 lb air rifle...:) For sure the TS Leapers are strong scopes, and yes the TS is equivelent to an AR rated scope and maby a tad more.. hehe  I have one on my Gamo 1250 .22 Royal but is sits in a bag in my closet.. hehe

Gene, you aint kiddin...my Dianas are heavy, but I don't shoot them offhand, I use a rest.  They are my "sniper" rifles.  I just popped a ground squirrel at 100 yards with my 350 .22....one shot one kill. Those scopes are absolutely awesome for long range shooting(and so is the rifle).  I use my Shadow1K or Hammerli Storm for offhand shooting.  Both have several skunk kills under their belts.

I guess that just goes to show you what I know about the different scopes, and that ain't too much.  In fact, until just the other day when Gene showed me the difference, all these years I've been looking through the wrong end....lol.. Anyhow, when I need some scope purchasing advice, I turn to Gene because I really am not very knowledgeable about comparing one scope to another and their quality.

My first leapers 4-16 x 56 OA only lasted about 200 shots on my hunter extreme before parts came loose inside. That’s when I made my traveling scope mount and never had one brake again.

LOL Bob, Your memory needs some joggin..:) It was you that told me about AR, scopes in the begining..hehe... So I bought that Leapers 3-12X50TSscopefor the 1250 two years ago and when I came over to your house with my rig, you said. Hey dummy, I told you to get an AR rated scope and not a Armored Rated Tank...:) So that was my last Leapers scope that I bought...:) But it has held up just fine. Now I have a 12 lb Gamo Royal 1250 .22 that I cannot lift or cock.. :) It would be a great hunting gun for me if the squirrels and rabbits would jump out there in front of the table I use to shoot itoff of...lol...

So Chucky, did you ever decide to try and go into production with those neat-o shock absorbing mounts? Looked like a great design to me when you first posted about it.

Just a little longer.
I have simplified it so it would just be an add-on kit to your existing one-piece mount.

That's good to hear! I hope it works out for you and that you can sell a bunch of 'em. Maybe you can get some kind of support from the scope mfg. companies when they see how their rate of defective returns could drop because of your device.

Keep us posted.
