Why do I love Springers so much?
« on: August 24, 2007, 11:43:20 AM »
You know guys...I don't even own a PCP.  I've got a Crosman 1377 and a couple of P17s.  But the rest are all sproingers.  I don't want to give anyone the impression that I don't like PCP tech, or pumper tech, because that's not the issue at all.  All of the technologies are fascinating.  Maybe someone will blend all of the technologies together someday, and come up with a really interesting design...and a new missle shaped projectile too...so we can shoot at powder speeds(or faster).

With PCPs...you have to fill them up with air, Co2, map gas, helium, oxygen, acetalene...whatever suits your fancy or blows you up as the case may be.   With pumpers...you have to pump them up.  But with springers, it's just cock, load, and shoot.

And I guess that there's a certain satisfaction that I get...knowing that I just dropped a ground squirrel at 100yrds, because it takes skill to do that with a springer.  And then theres the excercise that I get on my left side when cocking. I'm also fascinated by the design and inner workings of a springer...just now starting to get into that.  And of course there's the tuning and mods that you can do with the springers.  I come from a long line of "tinkerers".  My grandfather built his own electric car.  My dad designed things for the government that he can't talk about.  It's in my blood...I can feel it.  Always fixing or tryin to make things work better.

How bout you???

It is as simple as the Simplicity of a springer and the Challenge it takes to shoot what you are aiming at..:) They are totally self contained and all you need are pellets. Not to mention the fact that if you are semi mechanically inclined you can also enjoy tinkering and moding them as well. In my opinion it is total enjoyment shooting and tinkering with them...:)
