Crosman CPL's may not be CPL's
« on: September 04, 2007, 08:07:05 AM »

My last order of pellets a month or so ago, I ordered 2 boxes of CPL's or so I thought. Roald was up at my house on sunday and we were shooting at his chrony and I was seeing about a 100 fps difference in all of my guns I shot. Roald had brought a few CPL's and we compared mine and his and the ones out of my box were decidedly bigger. So we concluded that crosman had packaged some heavies in the 2 boxes. The boxes are clearly marked 7.9 grain. ANywho I called pyramid air and they routed me to crosman. I told the guy the problem and he said he would send 2 of the right boxes out to me no charge. The date on the bottom of the box is 1/10/07 and the die is #7. Ya'll might wanna take a peak at your CPL boxes if ya think your gun may be shootin a little lazy.

got 'em from pyramid also.  I sent mine back to crosman (two boxes) and they only sent me one box back...I had to  call them again and tell them I am due another box...it's supposed to be on the way.  I wonder how many boxes got mislabeled and how many folks never even realized it.  If you didn't compare them visually with a cpl you'd never know the difference or (in my case) if you didn't chrony them and see the 100+ fps drop in velocity.  Why can't crosman make pellets like they used to back in the ninety's?

Well honestly I cant complain about the pellets other than the fact that they were mislabled. I took out a dove right through the top of the wing/shoulder area and the pellet went all the way through. I was surprised because those dove wings are usually pretty tough. Even though I like the CPL's more the CPH's arent a bad pellet in my opinion. I shot the dove with my QB78D and it I was shootin the CPH's at about 750 fps which worked out to about 13 ft/lbs ME. The lites give about 12 ft/lbs so I dont lose much with the CPL's but I do gain a flatter trajectory I believe. Hehe I just want my CPL's.

I bought a box of CP .22 pellets that were marked as being .20 pellets. I got them for $10.00 out the door because of the mixup. Sure wish I could find some more deals like that.
