Will it finally took place over the weekend we had our little hunting competition I say little cause we only had three teams as most people either don't have the land to hunt on or they are to soft.
Anyways Greyskull went with me on this particular night and we went to one of my spots that I have only been to once myself but I shall return this weekend as well as it's rather over populated with everything good to shoot.
We started dropping possums 5 mins from where we parked it was unusual as we could hear plenty of possums screeching and hiding way up high out of sight which made it hard to spot them, We only took 10 possums that night but explored the land well as I knew I would be back many times to this spot.
We ended up getting to a really nice spot where I think a house would go nicely an old log cabin hmmmm never mind that there were plenty of peacock in the big pine trees around this nice high spot we managed to nail three big peacocks First it was one we both nailed this one together it was a tough old bugger as well then we dropped two more but this time it was one each I was on a hill side shooting up at about an 80 degree angle at night which I'm use to but it makes for a hard shot and as it was my first missed so a couple of calm breaths and some thought into my next landed the pellet straight up through his neck and out the top of his skull Adam managed to nail his about the same time.
with much more exploring to do but sad to say we had to turn back half way due to the fog eating the land and we couldn't see 3 feet in front of us.
On our way back we went through a gate to see where the track led to and wow it was like a small basin with a track round the out side filled with trees which just happened to have plenty of possums in them all way to high and out of sigh of course but I will get them next time, We had a guick look around and I spotted a magpie for this shot I had to sit as I was quite buggerd by that time so I took the best sitting FT position I could manage it was only about 20 meters so I was quite sure I could have him and I did.
We took a few possums in there but decided to get back to the car as we had a bit to carry out and it was 2am.
The day after we had the weigh in as we call it but there was no need for any weighing as Andy & Chris didn't take enough possums to beat us and they didn't get any good weights they did how ever shoot the same amount of Peacocks as Adam and I but because they got all three of theirs out they won the shield for that, We had to leave one of our big birds behind as we just had to much to carry out as it was.
As for possums the heaviest was rather on the light side weighing in at 2.94 kg's keep in ming the average weight for these things is round 4 kg but they have been known to reach 5 +.
Adam & I took the trophy for most possums taken, Heaviest possum, Magpie, / Andy & Chris Got Most Peacock Shield, Dale another shooter got the Turkey trophy.
