Centerpoint 3-9 x 40 AO
« on: September 21, 2007, 12:44:20 PM »
I got lucky and saw the post in the Bargain Gate that preez put up about the great deals on Centerpoint scopes on Amazon. I ordered this 3-9 x 40 AO (non-illum.) scope to replace  the Gamo 4x package scope that was on it. I had been looking at this same exact scope on Pyramid's site, it  was $66.00 there after using the 10% discount code and adding shipping. I got it on Amazon, they apparently got some at a really good price, for $40.00 shipped.

I received it today, fast shipping  from Amazon, it came out of an Amazon warehouse in Tulsa , only took 3 days, regular ground to get here. The scope comes blister packed, like the other Centerpoint sopes. The typical Leapers black rubber flip up scope covers are with it. It also comes with a set of Accushot two piece, four screw, medium mounts, complete with allen wrenches and extra hardware.

I got it mounted on the .22 CFX. I already had a set of exactly the same Accushot mounts on the CFX, so I have a spare set now, nice. The scope has the locking, target type turrets for elev. and windage. The allen screw in the center of each turret has to be loosened a bit to allow the knob to pop up to engage changing the settings. Once zeroed the allen screw is tightened again and the knobs are locked. It sighted it with no fuss and the .22 CFX is shooting one holers again on my indoor 10m range. I have it sighted a bit low @ 10M to allow for a spot on zero at about 30m.

The scope has good , clear optics, nice mildot reticle, accurate AO markings. It is sensitive to eye relief, not much allowance for fore and aft there. This is a big scope, 13.5" long and 22oz. weight. It is a good fit on the CFX, but I wouldn't want any bigger scope on it. It does not interfere with the loading port. I would have been happy with this scope @ $66.00, and am very pleased for $40.00.

Enjoyed your review very much Stephanie, especially since I also bought one from Amazon.com.   I wasn't aware it came with the rings, makes me even happier about he purchase.  :)

Nice review Stephanie, mine is a 30mm and I ordered a one piece mount today along with an accushot power adjuster wheel. If mine comes with rings I guess I'll have an extra set of 30mm's . that might not be that good of a thing . I haven't decided what I'm going to put it on, probably my TX200HC . heehee . kirby

nice review PeakChick, thanks for the credit! I'm still waiting for my scope.

By the way, we cleaned out Amazon, no more scopes at that price.

I have the exact same scope mounted on the exact same gun, complete with Da Tuna's gold trigger.
Oh, I also modified the mounting rail for it by removing it when I mounted that gold trigger, then drilling a second 11/64" scope stop hole where I wanted the forward ring to sit, degreased the rail, screw holes, screws themselves, then remounted it on the receiver rail, using a drop of the good old blue removable Loc-Tite on the three side screws and the top lockdown screw.
The reason for all that trouble?
Well, the Accushot rings have only one ring with a vertical scope stop pin, but the ones I selected were the B-Square model 10039 two piece rings that have both rings with scope stop pins.
I figured why not take advantage and make ring skid stop a shared responsibility, and this little mod has worked perfectly.
With that combination, I am putting five JSB Exact Jumbos into 1/2" @ 25 yards.
My only point of irritation with it is the allen wrench lockdowns for the turret knobs, but that is not really a practical problem out in the field, as anyone thinking he (or she;) may need to make adjustments in the field can either keep the allen wrench in his pocket, or back off the lockdown screws before leaving with it, as the setttings should stay put well enough for an outing.
Oh, I also found the AO markings right on the money, a VERY nice touch for us non-Field Target shooters. :emoticon:

Just to add to PC's review, I just received the illuminated version of the same scope. Mine came in nice cardboard box (no blister packaging). Scope mounts were not included. The scope seems bright and clear, illuminated reticle is a nice feature, too. I tried to mount it on a b30 this morning, but found out that a standard 11mm scope mounts are too narrow for b30's rail. Now I'm on the hunt for 13mm mounts... :(  I guess the fun part (shooting) still has to wait.

Great review Stephanie,

I was wondering if I would read any reviews on this scope. But as it turns out, they are sold out, maybe next time I'll move faster..

Keep us informed of any changes that occur with your new scope.

Hey Bill,

When I got home from work a few minutes ago my Centerpoint 3x9x40 was sitting on the front porch waiting for me.  I don't have a gun right now to mount it on but as soon as I do I'll post a review.  Looks nice in the package  :)
