Took the G-1 Extreme Huntin
« on: September 21, 2007, 01:43:45 PM »
Last night I finished mounting the 3x9x32 Centerpointe scope on my new Crosman G-1 Extreme  .177 cal  and this afternoon I did my pellet grouping tests with the rifle.  I'll be doing a complete review of the rifle very shortly, but for this post suffice it to say that I wound up doing the final sight in with Beeman Crow Magnums.  My final 5 shot group with the crow mags resulted in a perfect dime size group dead center at 25 yards.  Now it was time to take her to the duck farm and see how she hunted.

When I got to the duck farm I drove straight to the breeder farm, intending to target starlings.  As soon as I parked the truck I got out, looked at the old telephone pole that is a favorite place for the birds to land, and sure enough there were 3 starlings perched on the support wire.  Distance was 30 yards.  I loaded a crow mag, dialed the scope to 30 yards, put the crosshairs on the birds chest and squeezed the trigger.  Gun fired, heard the "smack" of the pellet slamming home and the starling flipped upside down on the wire, clung on for a second, then fell to the ground.  A kill with the first hunting shot from a new gun on the first hunting trip,,,, no better karma than that.

I roamed the farm for 2 more hours but only got 1 more shot at a starling at a distance of 25 yards.  The G-1 nailed that bird stone cold also, but it did a death glide into one of the duck waste drainage ditches so I couldn't retrieve it for pics.  The heat and the lack of targets made me call it a day and return home to proudly take some pics of my new G-1 Extreme and her trophy.  She had proven herself a capable hunter.  Like I said, I'll be doing a review on the gun soon but I have to say,,,,, I love this gun  !!  :)

I always enjoy your hunting stories Jeff. The new Crossman did you proud on her first outing.

I'm thinkin' she'd be awful purty with a gold trigger........... :)

Great shooting and good story Jeff.  Glad you blooded her right away.

I gotta ask though....

Have you done anything internally?

How do you feel about the trigger?

Thanks guys.  Ed, I may be applying some camo soon, have to decide on a pattern.

Mamba,,,,, didn't do anything to the insides, cept clean it up some.  As for the trigger, it really isn't bad.  I'll be posting a review in about an hour......
