The GAMO/BSA 3-9x40mm that came with my Whisper worked great without any problems  8)

Only reason I replaced it was because I had won a FREE 3-9x50mm Adventure Class from Center Point a few weeks back :)

I have had exceptional service from my BSA 3-12 x 44 air rifle scope on my Gamo Hunter 440. I have never had a problem with ANY of my BSA scopes.

Tim, I really like the Tasco Golden Antler 3-9x32 AO scopes I mounted on my 440 and CFX. So far they're holding true on target. I can't say the same for me lots of the time, but that isn't the gun, the trigger or the scope's fault (especially not the trigger ;~). Granted I haven't put thousands of rounds through them yet, but so far, the scope is holding up great, though my eyes might prefer a 4-16 zoom.

Send that Bug Buster back to the vendor, and request either a replacement or an upgrade for a little extra $.
I am currently using a Centerpoint 3-9x40 on my .22 CFX (identical power plant to that on your Hunter) and a Centerpoint 4-16x40 with red/green illumination on my .177 CFX.
I have zipped well over 1,000 pellets through the .22 and close to or even over 3,000 through the .177, and I get no sign of trouble from either.

thanks everyone. I think its too late to send the scope back and im pretty sure i scratched it. Sometimes i dont even know how the scratches get there its almost as if a fly lands on the scope theres a scratch. I was not very impressed with the quality on the scope and im obviously not impressed with the durability. I have a QB78 on its way that i can put it on. it holds zero for a while but if it wont hold zero on a recoiless gun i may just scrap it.

Thanks- Tim

I have the non-illuminated version of the scope on my .22 CFX. I like the scope and think it is a good value for the money. It has good, clear optics, a usuable mil-dot reticle, and the yardage markings on the AO seem accurate. It is a big scope, 13.5" long and a bit heavy 22 oz. The eye relief is a bit critcal, but not horribly so.

The Centerpoint scopes are the Crossman rebadged line of Leapers scopes. I have two of them, the 3-9 x 40 non-ill. and a 3-9 x 50 AO ill.
The current stable, (arsenal, quiver?): BSA Lightning XL .177, BSA Sportsman HV .22, BSA Ultra .177, CZ634 .177, Daystate Harrier X .177, TAU 200 Senior .177, HW 97 .177, HW 50s .177, HW 30 .177, RWS 92 .177, Gamo 126 MC Super, Gamo Big Cat .177, AR2078A, QB78 .177, Quest 1000 .177, Beeman SS650 .177., Beeman P17 .177.

I have the exact same scope, except mine doesn't have the red/green illumination.
It is a terrific scope, and I am using it on a .22 CFX springer, so the recoil is pretty stiff, but it is holding up beautifully, even though I have put somewhere around 1500 pellets, including the super heavy Eun Jins and the Kodiaks through the CFX with this scope riding on top the whole time.
I also have the Centerpoint 4-`16x40 with the red/green illumination on my .177 CFX, and it has held up now for well over 3000 shots, again no problems.
The red/green illumination is a nice bonus, too.
In low light, I strongly suggest using the red because red light doesn't compromise your night vision.
Use the green for a bright day when you are shooting against a black background that makes your black reticle seem to disappear.
It will glow green.
Oh, you will like those mildots in the reticle.
I use them all the time to compensate for elevation with pellets that strike above or below my sight in pellet (Beeman Ram Jet) by simply putting the dot on the target.
I also use the dots in the horizontal plain to compensate for wind drift.
For example, I discovered that the Crosman Ultra Magnum needs three dots in the direction of the wind in a 5-10mpg cross wind.
Enjoy it, and let us know how it works out for you.
