CFX inletting dimensions
« on: October 05, 2007, 12:07:12 PM »
I have been looking at all these nice custom stocks with adjustable this and thats...and I want to make one now. I have decent wood skills and all the needed tools (I think). I am wondering about the inletting dimensions. Does anyone have these or do I need to remove my CFX from its current stock and measure it? What about the position and angle of the mounting holes? Is there a trick to getting those right?

Please share any information or links you might have. I don't want to learn what others already know by trial and error. Please share...Please share...Please share...

The Gamo CFX stock is different than most of the other stocks I believe. Because of it being an under lever, it has rollers on both sides of the cocking link . That means that the stock would need tracks on both inside edges of the fore stock and as many Gamo rifles that I've had apart, I never paid attention or noticed if they are molded alike on both sides on the other synthetic stocks.

Maybe someone has a junk stock you can pick up. Then you can split it lengthwise with a bandsaw and have right and left templates.

I don't know if Gamo sells CFX stocks or not, but it's an idea.

Gamo sells the ordinary polymer stock for $29.95 here.

FWIW, Gamo also makes a wood stocked version of the CFX called the Royal, but that model appears to be a European option.
I believe that PeakChick has one, along with someone else here.

I haven't made 1 for the CFX,yet, but on the S1K's it's about 5/8" wide,1" deep with a shelf 3/4" wide15/16"deep for the roller. The CFX will need a shelf on both sides for the rollers. If you are just making a few, I would just measure the inleting on the factory stock and match it. As for the holes a piece of 1" dowel rod makes a real nice jig, clamp it in the fac stock, draw a line down both sides where it meets the stock and drill from the outside in on all 3 holes. Then clamp in the new stock and drill through the dowel, it works quite well.HTH anymore ?'s just ask. :)
