bagged me some rats..... in the dark
« on: October 18, 2007, 02:12:36 PM »

I've killed about 9 of these now... so I decided I'd post a pic or two of the first two of the night
I don't know why, but I find a sick please in taking a rat..... ;-)
The first one tonight was a head shot, he as a bit easier to see than the other... but they both dropped in their tracks.
The second was a heart shot, no blood. He just dropped.

Maybe my eyes are deceiving me, but isn't that shooter a RWS/Hammerli 850?
Nice shots on those little intruders.
Each time you take out a Norway rat, you are doing a great service to the environment, as they are an introduced species that displaces native species and carries disease harmful to both humans and native species alike.
Ditto with Starlings, English Sparrows, and pigeons.
As a matter of fact, 30 years ago (really showing my age now!), my family lost a great English Setter to a fungal disease found in pigeon dung called Blasto Micosis.
Also, there is nothing sick in taking pleasure in taking out such a loathsome pest as a rat.

Hey Roald,

Where's the 9oz. tank for that 850???  Or were you just in Stealth mode?

Dave, I've got and illuminated Reticle on the scope, if used on it's lowest setting in red, it works great in the dark.
You just have to take your time and let your eye get used to the dim light.

Jay, we have all been having "issues" with Tim's (MAC1) AS to PB adapters.
It appears that they only fit PB valves that have either been machined to fit his adapter
or the(German) kind that he sells. (they could be machined as well ??)
He refuses to "fix" it claiming that his spec is perfect and that the 22 different PB tanks and
fittings of various brands that don't fit into his adapter are all .... to put it in his words Cr@p
I have sent it back to him for a refund.. maybe Bob can make us some??? ;-)

Seriously, I have a friend who is a genius on the lathe.  I think I am going to get the $5.00 PB-AS from Wally World and let him reverse-engineer it.  I've already talked to him about it and he says he can do it.  I ordered an adapter form Mac-1, but I got no response so I don't know if it registered.

I will not slander Tim here, so I sent you a mail.
Get your buddy to make one for you, or you will have to have all your valves machined down
to fit the MAC1 adapter.
