NEW OFFICE/WORK POLICY
« on: October 26, 2007, 04:10:47 PM »

Dress Code:
1) You are advised to come to work dressed according to your salary.
2) If we see you wearing Prada shoes and carrying a Gucci bag, we'll assume you are doing well financially and therefore do not need a raise.
3) If you dress poorly, you need to learn to manage your money better, so that you may buy nicer clothes, and therefore you do not need a raise.
4) If you dress just right, you are right where you need to be and therefore you do not need a raise.

Sick Days:
We will no longer accept a doctor's statement as proof of sickness.
If you are able to go to the doctor, you are able to come to work.

Personal Days:
Each employee will receive 104 personal days a year. They are called Saturdays & Sundays.

Lunch Break:
Skinny people get 30 minutes for lunch, as they need to eat more, so that they can look healthy.
Normal size people get 15 minutes for lunch to get a balanced meal to maintain their average figure.
Chubby people get 5 minutes for lunch, because that's all the time needed to drink a Slim-Fast.

Bathroom Breaks:
Entirely too much time is being spent in the toilet. There is now a strict three-minute time limit in the stalls.
At the end of three minutes, an alarm will sound, the toilet paper roll will retract, the stall door will open, and a picture will be taken.
After your second offense, your picture will be posted on the company bulletin board under the "Chronic Offenders" category.
Anyone caught smiling in the picture will be sectioned under the company's mental health policy.

Thank you for your loyalty to our company. We are here to provide a positive employment experience.
Therefore, all questions, comments, concerns, complaints, frustrations, irritations, aggravations, insinuations,
allegations, accusations, contemplations, consternation and input should be directed elsewhere.

Sincerely,
The Management

THIS is why I turn a wrench! LoL  :D

Still laughin Sam. That is not to far off the way it is in many work places..:) Hope the job a Wast Management is goin strong for you. Can still smell the shop I used to work at for over 20 years. The smell of grease and solvent with a touch of diesel fuel..:) Remembering when the Snap On guy would roll up or Mac Tools..:) And all the guys fighting over the next burrito or hamburger when the garbage wagon would show up... Good memories though but am glad I paid my dues and now can enjoy my freedom of retirement. Yours will come in time for sure.
I misss the old uniforms and steel toe boots..:)

Thats almost exactly the way it was where I used to work!

My wife STILL wonders why I left a niiiice office job to go back to working nights & turning a wrench. Dimly lit, drably decorated CAGES aren't for me! Put me outside in the heat or cold. Give me a change of scenery every nw & then I say!!!

The new job at Waste is goin good so far. I got promoted to Foreman a coupla weeks ago. That was good for a raise of a coupla bucks.

BUT, We (Machinists Local 1546) maaaay be going on strike come Monday though. Waste Managment locked out the Teamsters back in July (when OUR contract was up). But now Pay Wise, they don't wanna give us the same deal that they gave the Teamsters. They also want us to take a 4 or 6 year contract instead of a 5 so that ours won't be up at the same time as the Teamsters AND Longshore Workers.

What the Teamsters got was : An initial raise of $4.30 and $1.68 thereafter for 4 years. NO additional money will be deducted from their take-home for Health & Welfare or Pension. They also got an additional Floating Holiday and an extra week of Vacation. Also retro Pay for the time they worked after thir contract expired.

They wanna give us an initial raise of $1.00 with no change in shift differential and $ 0.88 a year for the next 4 years. They ALSO want us to put in an additional $50 a paycheck for Health & Welfare as well as another $50 for Pension. So the raise they wanna give us really isn't a raise... It'll ALL go to Health/Pension. They aren't gonna retro pay us for time worked after contract expiration either. Despite the fact that our Union ALREADY had an offer drafted before the contract ended. Waste was draggin their butts...

Another thing that burns me is that the Teamsters only have to work for 4 hours a day, but they STILL get paid for 8. Anything over 4 hours is Time & a Half, anything over 8 is Double.  With us it's totally screwed up. Our first 12 hours are straight time, after 12 is time & a Half, after 16 is double. We just recently found out that our last Contract Negotiator now works for Waste Managment, so he screwed us the last go around....

I hate to say it Sam and I am not being predjudice but the Armenians who controle that industry are very shrewed and they can buy there way through just about anything. I know this because I worked and serviced there transmissions and differentials for years in Southern California and had direct contact with the big boys. Back then they did not do business with you unless you give them  something in return. I am dead serious about that too. I have seen millions slip through hands and special arrangements. But at least you have a job but it does not mean you have to like the people you work for or there slippery ways..:)

Rightly so Gene... I see it allot here too. I get to talk to the higher up's here at the San Leandro Facility on a Daily basis, and I know EXACTLY what you're talkin about.

Sux at times, but then again, I didn't take the job because of Morality... I took it for the money.

BTW, the L.A. site went out on strike last Friday!
