Hey Chuck, I do not know how far it should stick out but .010 sounds like a good number...

Those seals are made to compress when your barrel is locked. Also check that your barrel is locking up tight. Lay the it on a table with barrel hanging over edge. Get a good grip on the barrel and see if it moves up and down easily out of the locking detent. I had one that was bad from the factory. It was miss aligned and would never shoot straight. Always too high or too low. Never consistent. I ended up trashing it and getting another one. It seems the older models have two tapered pins for the lock up. One in the barrel breech and one in action. Now the newer ones have a straight roll pin that runs across the action with a tapered pin in the barrel breech. Good luck and keep us posted.. Gene
