QB57 .22 First Kill
« on: November 07, 2007, 06:13:15 AM »
The QB-57 .22 cal got it's first kill this afternoon.  There were a couple of squirrels hanging out in the trees on the edge of the woods behind my house so I decided to take the QB out of the shop, stroll slowly to the back of my yard and sit a spell.  Didn't take long,,, 5 minutes into the hunt I spotted a fair sized squirrel clinging to a high branch and sticking his head around to take a look at me.  Distance was 20 yards.  Already had a RWS SHP loaded and ready to go so put the crosshairs between his eye and ear and squeezed.

The little QB  fired and heard that beautiful "POP" as the hollow point slammed home.  The squirrel clung onto the branch for about 5 seconds and then fell straight down.  He thrashed around for  a few seconds but then layed still and that was that.  The RWS SHP hit him right where I aimed and took him out good.  Took a few pics of the QB and her first trophy.  I haven't chrony'd the gun yet so I don't know what she's shootin, but apparently she's shootin fast and hard enough to take out a tree rat at 20 yards and that's all I'm askin of her  :)

Well done Jeff I really like that rifle M8.
Tell me did you have any problems sighting her in it just looks like the scope is mounted very high due to that fore grip ????

Hey Sean,

Nope, no problems at all sighting her in, but then I've always preferred a higher mount anyway.  although I have to say it's really not as high as the pic makes it appear.     The Golden Antler is a perfect fit on the gun,,,, just the right overall size and weight, the gun balances nicely with it.

Hey Scott,

I'm not sure if they call it a "bullpup" or not, although I think I have seen a couple of posts where people refer to it as that...   At any rate,,,, great little shooter for the money.  Eventually I"m gonna do a complete tune on my .22, but for right now I'm gonna just leave it as it is since it's gettin the job done so nicely.  During the dead of winter I'll probably tune up the .22 and my .177 as "winter projects".  On my .177 I have a Centerpoint 3x9x40 scope on it,,,,, that scope is a great scope and work really well on the little rifle, but I have to say that the Golden Antler is actually a much better fit for the gun.  The Golden Antlers overall size and weight fit just right.
