Trigger..
« on: November 07, 2007, 07:27:31 PM »
Hi Guys,

My stutzen is here and must say great. Loading is not an issue for me atm. Love the gun and it is a mint example. This one is a keeper. Well, my GTR3 is in the mail, but I must say. the trigger does not appear to be heavy on this example. Only problem is the creep. I am sure it creeps perhaps as much as 8mm on second stage before releasing. This is not adjustable right? Only be on the GTR3 right?  Then also, is she not supposed to automatically set the safety when loading? Or is this only on the later model gamo's?  I will post some pics over the weekend, but I believe this must be the greatest looking stock I have seen in a while.

JT, none of the Gamo air rifles safeties automatically set. They are alll manual. No the stock Gamo trigger is not a true two stage trigger. And yes you can adjust the GRT-III trigger to your likeing. You will love it..:)

thanks Gene. will wait for my gtr. I think I will take her appart and tune so long. Dont think it is needed but I would rather want to be sure all is fine inside. There is no twang and recoil is pretty much not there. I think this may be a well manufactured gamo! can it be?

Ya JT, some are better from the factory than others. And a good lube and debur won't hurt nothing. Really you should wait till you have around 1000 pellets through her first but it is up to you.

Good Luck

Great!  I will then wait a bit..  Drop the trigger in and get to know her more intemately :)  Then do a debur etc later?  What is the reason for waiting with the tune?

thanks

For one thing to seaon the barrel. Second is when you pull her appart you can see where the wear points are. Generally you may want to replace the seal. Reason being that when the factory puts them together there are small sharp edges on the cutouts in the action where the piston and seal pass through.. All the ones that I have tuned or seen tuned the seal is damaged with nicks and cuts on them. After the debur, a new seal will pass through these places with not cutting or nicking seal.

Most Gamo triggers are adjustable for 2nd stage pull...

There should be a hole in the trigger guard and a screw behind the trigger. Turning it clockwise will reduce 2nd stage creep.

If the screw isn't there, somebody probablt yanked it. It was a used gun, right?

Thanks will adjust and see..  other than the long creep the trigger appears to be pretty light.

Gamo triggers are a funny bunch...

Some are horrible, some feel pretty nice. Most (if not all) will eventually break in and smooth out quite a bit as you shoot it. It's not gonna feel "crisp" like a B26 or an RWS T05 trigger, but the one on my relatively high-mileage Shadow feels nice enough that I'm not at all tempted to replace it.

mmm...  I read somewhere about putting a longer bolt into the adjuster.. now I understand..  On it's shortest creep adjustment It still does about 5mm. Will go look for one..

JTK,

The lack of an automatic safety on the Gamo is part of what makes them so attractive.
Automatic safeties are a royal pain, and they often are non-resettable.
