Turkey hunting???

With Thanksgiving rolling around again, I began wondering about taking turkey LEGALLY with an airgun. I checked my state's regulations and only squirrel, rabbit and crow may be taken legally with an airgun here (and I am not about to substitute crow for turkey!). What states allow hunting turkey with an airgun? I know they are THICK here and the farmers could care less if you take them with an airgun, shotgun or a howitzer, but the law is the law. I wouldn't mind traveling for a good turkey hunt.

You'd need a clear, close head shot.  Practically impossible if you spook them, you'd need to wait them out, ambush 'em. It could be done.

Turkeys are allowed in New Zealand. You're welcome to stay and I will even take you out for the hunt on my property. All I ask in return is 3 sets of those Gamo faceplates for the FT targets. Gamo USA won't ship here.

Ron, it is legal to hunt turkey and most other upland game birds in California with air rifles. Only turkeys require .20 or larger caliber. There are the usual issues of other agencies having special rules, such as in East San Bernardino County we have a no-projectile rule which allows only shotgun use for any hunting, that is 15-60 pellets at 1400FPS in place of one 8.3 grain pellet moving at 900 FPS!! Makes no sense but that is the way it is. Feel free to contact me for more info.

No projectile, huh??? Sounds to me like they want you to take them with a broadsword or morning star. Or maybe you could just whack 'em with a tire iron?  I wonder what they would say if you used a taser?  LOL!

Hi all I ain't been around much lately I have been to busy with work and just ain't had the time but had to post when I saw this post.
Turkey are as easy to kill as a starling or sparrow as long as it's a head shot and it's got to be right smack in the brain for the best result I shoot them all the time no prob but keep in mind I shoot them at night when they cant see and they usually roost on the farm fences, During the day is a bit more fun as you have to stalk them and if they take of from spotting you they only fly about 2 or 300 meters then the stalking begins again it's hard to believe that you guys ain't allowed to hunt them with air rifles but like said before the law is the law.
