.22 cfx and crosman pels
« on: November 21, 2007, 05:37:51 PM »
I have terrible results with crosman pels. in my cfx. You name it pointed , domed , or wads terrible inconsistence in vel and in accuracy. Anyone else had simaler results? Wolverines , super points, daisy wads, and preds all do great. I think may be the bores are slightly over size for the crosman skirts? Thus causing the 100 fps low vels? Any one have a thought?

I've had pretty poor luck with Crosman pellets in general.  In fact, the only rifle I've had that really shot them well was my HW 77, but they were a really tight fit in the bore.  That was a .177, BTW, and Premiers in the box.  I just got some in .22, as well as some more .177's, both heavy and light, to try in my Talon, and my new to me B50.  So far, no time for any shooting, never mind serious tests :-(.  Will keep you posted.

maybe so in this case. My cfx doesn't like then either.  pointeds work very well in my 1377, qb57 and especially my b3.

Try some of the Gamo Hunters round nose or the RWS Superdomes.. They work well in one of my CFX's

My .22 CFX absolutely loves Beeman FTS pellets.  They load easily and give me fantastic groups.  They've worked well on small game also,,,, did a number on some woodchucks before they went down for hibernation......

Actually, Barry, I just put together a Rube Goldberg fill whip for it, got air in it for the first time today.  As you may know, this is the B50 that Dano in Tx used to have.  As it's a beautiful day here but barely above freezing, my shooting consisted of one chrony string and half a dozen shots at an empty beer can.  Dan had this thing powered down, with .177 Silver Bears, I was getting about 825 fps.  That's only a little over 10 fpe, out of the box I believe these typically do closer to 20 fpe.  I haven't shot anything but my Talon for months now, but so far, I'm liking it.  Maybe because of the detune, it's very quiet, the pellet hitting it's target is noisier than the gun.  It's a lot lighter than I expected it to be, but it feels good.  The stock fits me well, but Dan did some work on that.  Not much else to tell at this point.  I'll include a pic of my filling contraption, note that it is also the filler for my Talon.  Later.

Thanks for all the posts Ive been reading the forum for sum time but never posted. I have become a full blown airgun junkie, hehe. It all started first with a daisy bb, then a crosman 766 that literally fell apart after 100,000 of thousands of rounds, didnt know they could be rebuilt.(sob) Thank s once again for a good time well spent .

I am having good luck with my Crosman pellets in the brown box.  I like longer range shooing and was out yesterday hitting bottles at 60-65yds.  It has been tuned.  Sometimes the bottles didn't break at this range.  I have the beeman 5039 mount on my .22 Cfx which I am going to get for my .177 as well.  It allows me to  get my rifle sighted close without using my scope adjustments.  I am using a Bsa Contender 3-12 X 50 scope.  This combo has worked out well for me.

I haven't tried the pointed or wadcutters in my .22 CFX, but the domes average 0.52" five shot groups @ 25 yards.
My .177 CFX really likes the Premiers, Hunting Field Points, and especially Ultra Magnums, the last of which drop inside 0.5".

I found that Superdomes and roundnose Premeirs do best in my CFX .22. Consistencyis excellentbut the POI is much different between the two. At first I thought that I had a defective seal or something. But then I realized that when I zeroed the scope for Superdomes, I could shoot those all day very accurately, and it wasn't until I used the Premiers that I saw deviation. Once I zeroed the scope for Premeirs...then I was shooting accurately. So I decided to zero up for Superdomes, because I got a bunch of them when Umarex had them on special.
