Riley has beaten death again
« on: November 22, 2007, 04:33:11 AM »
As many of you know, my great grandson, Riley has been near death several times. But once again, Riley has overcome another close call and God willing, this will be the answer. The little guy has been struggling to live almost all of his short life and has narrowly beat death several times. Although there have been good days the little guy for the most part has known nothing but pain, agony and discomfort for almost all of his entire short life.

On Riley’s last arrival (he has been there several times) at the MUSC Children's Hospital, the hospital in Charleston SC, they gave him just hours to live but through the grace of God, he somehow struggled through it once again and survived. He just won’t quit.

He has been in MUSC Children's Hospital for the last several months and will be there for a couple more before he can hopefully come home again. He has spent almost as much of his life in hospitals as he has at home.

Riley is a real fighter and doesn’t give up, rarely complains and when on the up side, is just like any other boy. But he just doesn’t have much strength and his body runs down very quickly.

I’d like to thank all of you for your prayers and to please continue praying for him as it’s a long way from being over and he has a long road if this is successful. He needs all the help he can get. But being realistic, if this isn’t successful; there is nothing else left for him.

But on the brighter side, Riley has made the big time… there is a newspaper article here that you may like to read.

Happy Thanksgiving to all and I have a lot to be thankful for.

Thanks all

My thoughts and prayers will be with Riley and your family Bob. He seems like such a wonderful boy, despite all he has had to face in his short life. I'm touched that his big sister loves her brother very much. My wishes for a very special thanksgiving for you and your family.

Hello Bob,

To read something like this on Thanksgiving Day, is so very sad. I wasn't aware of your grandsons illness, and I will surely addRiley and your familyin my prayers. There is no greater pain than that of a child being ill, Iwith our fellow members, will pray for his speedy recovery, and with Gods love and Grace, Ipray he will be cured, and live a long and happy life !

My Best Wishes,

Bill

As it seems he's far more concerned with being a kid than being sick.  I didn't know about this either, Bob, and like the rest of the GTA family, you and yours are in my thoughts and prayers.  And a special atta boy for the reporter that wrote that story.  It takes a special kind of heart to deal with ANY sick person, but sick children are the toughest.  And a Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

Bob I don't look at this forum often but I was lead here tonite and now I know why. I'm already praying for Riley and his family and will continue to do so. I also am a great grandad. May the grace of God be upon him and his family. We can't understand some things in life and children suffering is one of the big ones with me.However, we have a Great Big God and we have to trust in him knowing what's best for all of us. We also have to believe that if Riley doesn't make it that he will be safe FOREVER in the arms of our precious Savoir. God Bless, Gordon

Bob,
Thanks for the story about Riley, I have added him to our church prayer list and will be holding him up at the Tuesday morning prayer meeting. When you put God's love together with a strong will to survive, like Riley obviously has, you can expect miracles. May Riley's recovery be complete and final. I hope to shoot with him someday at GTA get together!! Lord bless.
