Red Dot for FWB 124
« on: November 23, 2007, 01:30:40 AM »
Got the new FWB and old eyes. Never used optics in my life.  Old habits from Jr Smallbore I guess.

Before I go to scopes, I'd like to try 1X magnification first. Red Dots, Ghost Rings, large apeture peep sights.

I also recently scored 2 Marlin 39-A Mounties (A '59 and a '60), which I will try the same set ups on.

Who makes the best Red Dot?  I don't mind paying for quality, I'm too poor to keep buying cheap stuff over and over.

Certainly I want one that can handle the recoil from the FWB.  If I don't care for it on the FWB, it will get shifted over to 1 of the Mounties.

Same deal for the Ghost ring, but I'm more inclined to go with the large (.96) apeture peep first.

That will be a Skinner sight for 1 of the Mounties and since he does his own machining, I'll bet he could set 1 up for the FWB.

But first, what is the highest quality Red Dot?

Thanks!

Rob

howareya

in the 70 - 80s aimpoint were the big name used by police army etc, made in sweden at the time and cost as much as an air rifle.   nearly every scope maker has at least 1 one now, prob all made in the same place, have tried cheap open style and would prefer mini fully enclosed scope type, easier to keep working side of lens clean and dry, although open types are very small and light , most are made for pistols and have a dot which is 5 moa (5 " @ 100 yrds) 1-2" dots hard to find and dot size details not always supplied

see attached link seem to have a very broad range of reflex sights
