Shhhhhhh Buddy hehe, no but really guy's I'm working on something that should keep those warm weather gal's warm in the dead of winter. Around here it get's well below zero and within the next week I will have a finished prodect to test in the field, temp 35 deg. during the day and down to 15deg. at night. I hunt at both times and the QB78 need's a winter hunt under her belt. Ed

Hmmm...maybe a couple of chemical bag hand warmers will fit in the stock of my CX4, keeping the airsource bottle warm? Hmmm.  Possibilities.

Wonder if I could make a camo turret on top of the roof, with all the comforts of home, piped-in? Those squirrels wouldn't have a chance!

What wonderful solutions guys :)
Are these ideas just for remote bottles? How about the regular 12g canistors?
I have thought about placing some chemical heaters that I use in my boots when riding in winter.
However I am worried about the gun blowing up in my face  :o

I tried putting two hand warmers along the tube of my 2240 wraped in an old sock (it was cheap to try) and it worked out pretty well. I'm very new to co2 guns but it was shooting much harder with the warmers than with out at a few degrees below zero. The warmers that I was using were heating up to about 25C or 30C and they seemed to work pretty well. I tried taping them to the tube but the heat was dissipated much too quickly with out some kind of insulation.

Get a lot better results by warming the rifle rather than the remote tank.  On bulk, the gas is injected into the gas tube (QB 78 type rifle) and sits there, mixing with the rest of the gas tube's gas...then is injected into the valve where it sits until released by the hammer. As it sits in the tiny volume of the valve (after being mixed with all the gas in the gas tube) it's going to cool down to the valve's temperature pretty quickly.

How about Heated Motorcycle (snow mobile?)  grips. I've got an extra set that was on my touring bike. It's just a film with a filament embedded in it. Should run off a small 12v battery. Like the ones in Emergency Hallway Lights. They don't draw much power and get up to about 85 degrees. Those batteries are also pretty light.  The film would wrap around the main tube under the stock, then run the wire out to a battery in your pocket.

You could also use a 12 or 14v Lithium Polymer battery from a cordless drill or RC vehicle. It would be LOADS lighter. Same power for ALLOT longer. A thermostat can be added to save battery power.

Here are the grip warmers similar to what I have: http://www.dual-star.com/index2/Rider/heated_grip_kit1.htm

I have ones made by Moose. They run about 35 bucks a set.

Electric socks have worked (and are cheap) but you've got to experiment with some padding between the sock and the rifle to get the temp. right (they tend to be a bit too warm_...might just have to wire one up with a rheostat.

I may just picture everyone with CO2 bottles wired-up like the Borgs in Star Trek; "Resistance is futile.  You will be assimilated..."  ;-}

How do you get the co2 inside that broken-barrel rifle?

I would agree with that when hunting as you would have a greater time between shots for the gas to cool down.  However when target shooting it has proved to be the ideal solution as your are stationary and shoot more frequently.  The idea of some form of insulating sock for the gun seems rather a good one as up till now if I wasn't using the remote bottle I had to have a bag full of handwarmers with me! One other point. Have you noticed that QB owners will just not give up on their guns no matter what?  It would be so easy to forget the QB in the Winter and go with HPA.  I also have an Air Arms S400 but much prefer to shoot my customised XS78.  Strange isn't it, and it's something you can cannot explain to those who just haven't been there?
