Racoon gets his
« on: August 04, 2006, 02:13:44 AM »
I been after the guy for two weeks and finaly got him, he has been knocking down my bird feeders and suet cages at nite.

I set a trap for him by tying a fishing line and a christmas bell on one of the suet cages, last nite I was awoke at 1 pm with a jingle.

15 yards with a shot between the eyes with a Predator from my Genesis did him in, at that close range he sure dropped quick, 15 seconds and he was still.

He is now feeding the rose bushes along with assorted squirrels.
Sorry bout that Raccon I chased you away many times and you would not give up.

He was a fat one, he was getting fat on my bird feeders and suet blocks.

The Roses look better already.

was that a .177 if so  that gun must have some power, I 've been hunting coons with dogs with my dad for many years and sometimes it will take two or three 22 shells     GREAT SHOT

It's all in the placement of the shot, if you hit them right they go down real quick. Got to take a coon in the head just like a grounghog.

 headshots, headshots !!!

Hello,

That is some good shooting ! That looks like a huge racoon. You should have weighed him before you put him away. Remember, they are bad to carry rabies this time of the year. Best of luck...

I would rate it a 8 at most.

It has the power, but most of the rifles have a weak lock up problem, I have been playing with  it  for almost a year, I just learned to be solid when I close up the  rifle. Also had a problem with the barrel pivot bolt comming loose, lock tite was the cure for that. I also had to send the scope back for replacement, every time you shot it got fuzzy, great service  they sent me a new scope in less than two weeks. Rifle has good accuracy, 1"  groups at 45 yards

Mine has a JM spring kit installed and that realy helped quiet down and make the rifle smoother.

I hear that crossman has fixed it on the latest ones.

A very nice shot. Be careful though, these guys can be pretty nasty if you don't put em' down with that first shot.
