first air rifle kill

Well I've been punching a lot holes through paper since I got my Gamo Big Cat...but until today no critters. I've been taking my rifle to work with me and shooting on my lunch hour. We have a patch of woods behind the shop, so me and another guy (who brought his crosman pistol) took a little stroll. I shot at a rabbit, but he was in a dead run, stopped for just a sec but not long enough for me to get a good aim so I missed him. But shortly after a dove landed directly in front of me on a limb about 20 yds out. He gave me a little more time to aim. Squeezed one off and he hit the dirt. It just caught the left wing and into the chest. I was using gamo tomahawks. I've been a little discouraged with the accuracy I'd been getting on paper, but it sure done the job in the woods!

Good job Wood now all you need is a digital camera so we can see your kill. Keep punching paper and experimenting with different pellets and holds on the rifle. Welcome to the GTA hunting gate

Dustin, don`t worry about the accuraccy to much,I been shootin targets and critters for well awhile now, usually with powder guns,I bought my firsy spring rifleand was tottally discusted with the accuracy, then I clicked on the green library link,it has some excellent info on shootin springers, might be worth a look,I thought so.

Hey Dustin,

Enjoyed your post,,, will be looking forward to your future posts, especially the huntin ones :)

Like the others have said,,,, shooting springers sometimes requires some time and practice, but it sounds like you did just fine and made a good shot.....

Hey tat, I know what you mean. I had only shot powder burners  too. I could shoot through the same hole on paper all day with them...then I got my springer..lol   needless to say I was pulling my hair out for a while trying to figure out why I couldn't shoot it as well as my "thunder guns". I hadn't realized my progress though until last night I took my gamo to a friends house and we were shooting a soda can at 30 yds. I hit it every time, and he couldn't hit it. lol  Then I explained to him some of the things I learned about holding/shooting a springer, and he was soon putting holes through that can as well.
Sorry I didn't post any pics, I was at work and didn't have my camera. (hunting at work...its a rough life. lol)
I will definately post pics next time though!
