Fathers day
« on: June 16, 2006, 02:43:14 PM »
Somewhere, on some other forum I saw fathers day mentioned. I don't remember what the reference to fathers day was so I'm gonna' pat myself on the back a little. According to Fed-Ex's web site I'm gonna' get a brand new IZH 61 to play with on saturday, that's as close as you can get to dadsday. And the better half has already told me that the honey-do list is suspended. Watch out hay bales, I'm gonna' be shootin' all kinds a stuff set in front of ya'.
carry on,

Well the IZZY got here late this morning (as I was shoveling gravel, I think I've finished that honeydo). Actually, it is a replacement for one that wouldn't shoot anything under 1.25" or more at 10 meters, I think that one has a barrel problem. Anyway, I couldn't get to the 10 meter range to shoot targets but I did shoot 30 or 40 rounds at  pop cans, pill bottles and 35mm film cans at 20 meters and I would be real surprised if it doesn't print real nice at 10 meters. Of course it only has a few rounds through it and haven't done anything other than run a couple patches through the barrel. I'll get picky and tighten screws, test different pellets, etc. next week. For now I'm just gonna 'shoot the barrel in' hee hee.

Update on the IZZY:
Well, I guess I should qualify my statements. I have an IZH46M ssp pistol that is as good as anything I have owned & shot in competition. The IZH61 that I have been speaking of here is not in that catagory. The second one turned out to have worse accuracy problems than the first. I could easily blame myself for these problems but I shot a couple of other rifles under the same conditions with much better results. In the IZZY's defense, the '61 has a very good reputation for accuracy. I think maybe I got in the middle of a bad batch.
To make a long story longer, I sent it back today & am now awaiting a Daisy 953 in partial exchange. I have an 853 so I'm hoping for the best. The big problem as I understand it, is LOP, if anyone has any ideas, please let me know.
TIA,
nmike
