Damaged Rifle
« on: August 09, 2006, 10:36:58 AM »
Hello,

I got the RWS Model 350 delivered Monday, that I had ordered for 3 weeks. The U.P.S. man left it on my carport. When I saw it, the outer box was busted and it was bent as much as it could be. I opened it and the front sight fell out in the floor. The inside box had a hole torn in it as big as your hand. There were four real bad scratches on the barrell and reciever that you could see and feel. The stock also had several dig's on it. The rifle had been hit so hard that the barrell was un - locked ready to open. I was awfully disappointed!!  I called D & R and they filed a claim with U. P. S. They picked the rifle up today. I am still waiting for my rifle...

Wow!!  What a rotten way to get a new 350!!

I'm really sorry to hear that happened to you rabbit.

I've been eyeing the RWS 350 in .22 for my next air rifle purchase as well.  Gonna take some time to get the money together but I sure hope it arrives in better shape than yours did.

Mind if I ask, who's D&R?

I also am sorry to hear about your experience, that stinks.  I've had a couple of UPS deliveries where the packaging showed sign of less than gentle treatment, but I've never had the product damaged.  I'm sure you'll feel much better though when you get your new rifle.  I have the 350 in .22 and I love that gun.  I'm already counting the days until small game season opens.

I will only ship using DHL or USPS. Of all the guns I have sent through either of them, none has ever been damaged. Heck, the boxes still look new when DHL delivers them.
UPS has a bad reputation in the airgun world for a reason.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I hope they make it right.

I have always worried when I get a gun shipped. Always those thoughts in the back of my mind wondering if it will arrive in good order.

I hope that your next RWS comes and it puts a smile on your face Rabbit...:)

I think you will find that this is the reason why many stores which sell air rifles suggest they ship them to you in a gun case.

Something I wanted to add to your post Youkilis. When I ordered my CFX Royal .22 from the UK, it hit me after I ordered it that what a hassel it would be if I got my gun like Rabbit did. Worried the whole time time it took it to arrive. I got the package from USPS. It had so much packing and padding that it took me 20 minutes to get down to the box. When I got down to the box, the box had two 1X4 boards taped to either side of the box.
The CFX was in perfect order and I was very relieved...:)
