Viper or Viper Express questions
« on: August 09, 2006, 03:40:48 PM »
These guns look pretty interesting.

Has anyone shot these? Would be nice to hear a real world comparison with cheaper gamos or other rifles in its price range.

The Express seems fairly impractical but kind of fun to add to a collection --anyone tried that one either?

They claim "At 600 fps, it delivers a 12" pattern at 10 yards, penetrating over 1/8" of 200-lb. compressed paperboard."

Not sure what I would need to hit in a 12" pattern from 10 yards away...maybe I could sneak up on a goose =D

From what I understand  Gamo has not released the rifle, nobody has them in stock that I have found.

My local sports store has one, unless the box is just a prop :)

however if you call and ask about the product, they don't have them in stock and have no date for when they are getting more.

he said he was out but will hopefully get some by the end of the week.

we'll see...

I kind of like the idea of going after ducks and geese with an air powered shogun...the question is can I get within 10 yards of em =D

I don't think you're going to be able to stalk within 10 yards of ducks or geese, they have pretty keep senses.  But, if you are in a well placed and concealed blind you may get some shooting.  Waterfowl can be pretty tough though, I've seen them take some good hits from 3 inch magnum shotgun rounds and go a long way before dropping.

Pyramidair does NOT have the Viper Express in stock the rifle has not been released yet, I just got off the phone with them.

They DO have the Recon and I ordered one for myself, it should make a good backyard Chippy rifle.
