New CFX sighted in
« on: August 10, 2006, 01:10:57 PM »
Well, finally got around to sighting in my new CFX .177 and Leapers 3x9x50 mildot illum. reticle scope.  I sighted it in with RWS Superdome pellets (Gene, you were right, I like em  8) ) then I tried Beeman Crow Magnum Hollow Points, Crosman Premier Hollow Points and Crosman Copperhead Pointed pellets.  I have to say, all the pellets shot well but the Superdomes worked best for me.  I'm very happy with the results and I'm really looking forward to taking this gun out to the duck farm that I shoot at to try out on the starlings.  The target below with the single red  bullseye is the last target I fired after making some fine tuning scope adjustments.  I tightened down the zero locking scope dials and am leaving it right where it is.  I don't have a chronograph so I don't have any data re: pellet speed, but from a purely unscientific method it sounded to me like the pellets were striking the plywood target backing pretty nicely, and they were certainly doing some damage to the wood so I'm happy.  The gun shoots like a dream and the scope just makes it better.  I couldn't be any happier with the combination.

I am glad someone has tried those RWS SD's besides me.... lol.. Some guys use CP's and swear by them and have no luck wieh RWS Superdomes.. It just depends on the the air gun. They are like women... hehe  They can be very picky... :) And not every woman is the same.... lol

One of our newest members stopped by my house to day to check out my Gamo fleet.. :) before he buys one he wanted to see, feel and shoot them. I handed him the Black Shadow .22 first. He cocked and inserted a pellet. Took aim on my shooting stand and blew off one of my half inch black sticky dots on the first shot.. I could not believe he blew it off the target stand... :) on his first shot.. Well Tom is a well seasoned shooter of powder guns. He has a couple of pellet guns and wanted to see what all the to-do is with these Gamo's.. He really liked the Black Shadow .22. It is one of the lightest ones I own besides the S1K .177.

He tasted everyone of my Gamo's and was very impressed I think when he left. I am sure he will be shooting his own in a week..:)

Hey Gene,  took the CFX on it's first hunt this afternoon using the Superdomes, great results.  Just posted the story in the "Hunting Gate".  Thanks for recommending those pellets.
