Newbie to airgunning
« on: January 05, 2008, 05:27:13 PM »
Well, not really new to airgunning, had several as a kid. Just getting into it more serious now. I just bought a Gamo Big Cat 1200, and I was wondering if the fine people on this forum could give me thier opinion on this gun. And any improvements that I could make to it. Thanks in advance.

Hey.  I'm just getting into airgunning too.  The only advice I can give you is practice practice practice.  Once your rifle 'breaks in' it'll shoot much smoother.  It slowly breaks in as it is used; all the parts start adapting to each other and everything becomes in tune.  Oh, and be sure to pick up a GRT trigger from charliedatuna.  It is a must have and it is easy to install.  It will definetly help your accuracy.  Good luck!

Welcome !

Gamo's are a fine air rifle, and can be turned into fine shooters. The trigger is the one item that definitely needs improvement, and as Josh mentioned, installing the GRT-III Trigger by CharlieDaTuna, will correct that in about 15 minutes ! If you have ever fired a rifle with a match trigger, that about what you will get from the GRT-III, a smooth, crisp, and very light trigger. Just one word of caution, never place your finger on the trigger before you intend to fire it, for safety reasons no one should, ever. But you'll see a day and night difference between the Gamo and the GRT-III trigger.

Now if want to go the hole turbo-tune, Charlie can help you there also ! Just visit his Web Site at CDT2@Charter.netand read all the wonderful things that Charlie can and will do with your air rifle, and decide what you want done on her.

Hope to see you posting here often, and tell me what you think about the GRT-III trigger ! Andthe CharlieDaTuna Tune-up !

Hello Robin, I recieved my Viper from tat2dman AKA Barry and is a fantastic shooter. It is stock but will recieve a tune after she's seasoned. The stock is a beechwood from a Gamo 440 if I remember right and look's great on her. The scope is a Gamo 3-9x40 with a one piece mount, accushot. The trigger is from the one and only CDT, his trigger's are second to none and that would be the first change that one should make to their shooter. Bob also does tunes on them that are out of this world and you can find info on his services in the MALL section of our forum, it's well worth it. Pellet selection, get yourself a Sampler Pack which consist of several different type's of pellet's to find out what she like's to eat. Ed
