Hunting Visitors
« on: January 06, 2008, 07:41:56 PM »
Just remembered & thought I would post this little hunt from a couple of weeks back when Andre sent me a txt and asked me to set up a hunt for him and his  two brothers so I do as I do and set it all up.
In total there was six of us now normally I don't really like to take that many people out simply for safety reasons but agreed for one reason and that is because I know my hunting buddies have have plenty of experience as do Andre and his brothers so it wasn't so much of a worry for me.
All I had to do from there is to make sure I didn't take them to all of the dangerous spots that myself and Andy usually hunt as some of the cliffs and ridges could kill a person if they fell on their but and I don't care how much experience a hunter has cause it can happen to the best and when it comes to a large hunting group it would make it even more dangerous so I I gave it a bit of thought as to where and where not to go.
Anyways the night was a bit slow on the old possum war front but I managed to locate a couple of spots that had quite a few peacocks & hens roosting this added a bit of excitement to the night for our guests, You will all know Andre as JAVS on here I have taken him for a hunt 2 or 3 times now and have enjoyed each one as has he.
I think they all liked taking such a big game bird as these simply cause they are not found in quite a lot of parts in NZ so they got to take a big bird they they had not had a shot at before.

I'd love to go on such a hunt, that would be a dream come true  !!!!    Can't imagine the thrill of takin a couple of those huge birds, not to mention those possums.   Maybe after I retire, which should be soon,  I'll have to drop in on ED and we can pick up Gene before we head off to NZ  :)
