C02 Question
« on: January 10, 2008, 01:39:19 AM »
Not having an indoor range available at my house I haven't shot either of my QB78's since winter arrived, however every once in a while we get a fairly warm day here.  Was just wondering what is about the lowest temps that would make shooting a viable option??  Just curious..

Jeff, I'm not sure what the lowest would be, but I shot my 79and2250 the other day, it was 45-50deg out. I don't have a chrony so I can't say how much it may have dropped, but 2 clicks up on the scope and it was spot on at 33yrds.HTH

Thanks Mike,,,,, we've had a couple of days here in the high 50's, almost 60 and I would love to take the 78's to the duck farm as lately the place is literally infested with thousands of starlings.   Maybe I'll give it a shot on the next warm day  (no pun intended)  :)

Your welcome Jeff. Close to 60 and you should be fine, could also wrap a rag around the action, or cut the toe out of some old socks and put that on, that may help some with temps.

Make sure the socks are clean. The smell will put you off your aim :)
It\'s OK it\'s just a bruise!

No, you want them as dirty as possible, so you can practice lining up shots quicker.:p

Should be good into the middle to high 50's.  Will shoot a bit low, so would be better to take some sight-in shots.  Starting out cool, would also be better to pace your shooting as the rifle will tend to cool even more.

They tend to poop out at bit a low temps, if you put in a really weak spring in the valve they will come around some,
