What's people's honest opinions of the Sporter 500
« on: January 10, 2008, 12:11:28 PM »
Natchez is selling them for $59.99. I think that would be a decent price for a small plinker. Anyone have/had one? Any opinions?
Thanks
Nathan

I ordered one arrived broken and damaged by UPS. Ordered a second one the barrel was bent. Had one for about 2 years before and liked it for a plinker only it had a good trigger and weight. Full sized stock but the plastic coated soda straw barrel was lously even compared to the recon fluted barrel. It's a good price that's why I ordered one but my feel is Nachez got some horrible refurbs and are moving them cheap because they know the quality is poor. If you want to take a chance on getting a decent one or having to pay return shipping if you get a poor one I say go for it. If you want a sure thing in that power range I like the Tech Force 49 which I also have. The trigger is plastic and the one I have doesn't have open sights but I shoot with scopes almost exclusively since most air rifle open sights generally suck! Downside of this rifle is the plastic trigger and direct sear setup. Best of luck whatever you decide!

My first sporter had a couple of problems (among them, the elevation wheel wouldn't turn). Natchez paid for the return shipping and sent me a new one pronto.

The 2nd one is fine.
