New Commercial QB78 Magazine
« on: January 12, 2008, 03:43:08 AM »

I have just read the post below on the Air Arms Owners Club Forum. Finally a decent magazine for the QB78.

 Jon

I have today received the prototype Rowan Engineering multishot magazine for the QB/XS/78/79 CO2 rifles. Below is a link to the photos.

Needless to say, it works perfectly on the QB but I had to make a slight alteration to make it fit my XS78 as well. The XS78 rail is ever so slightly wider than the QB78's. That problem will now be sorted at the factory and the magazine fits both superbly. I already have the S400 version and it just struck me that with not too much modifying it would fit the '78 as well. The guys at Rowan's took it up and produced the prototype for me to test. Superb! It works just as smoothly as the S400 version and I now have the benefit of two magazines as well! There are many thousands of these popular CO2 guns about and many have been converted to PCP's. I really wish the guys at Rowan Engineering all the luck in the world for having the nouce to listen to their customers and act on it. They now have a massive worldwide market to get their teeth into and I'm sure we can all help by passing the word on!

Cheers,
 Steve

Dave at Rowan Engineering has been back on to me and the slight bracket mod is already in hand.  I can confirm that they WILL be offering it in both left and right handed options for those of you who use sidewheel scopes.  From what he tells me the 'lefty' version of the S400 model is the more popular of the two anyway for various reasons.

When they first manufactured these it was .177 calibre only but bowed to public demand and produced the .22 version.  Whether they will produce a .20 and .25 version, I suppose will down to demand, as the gun isn't made as a standard in those calibres.  I have to restest the new modified bracket when it arrives but it's a forgone conclusion it will be OK and then I suppose it's all systems go.

I am one very happy bunny at the moment, being the only person with one of these QB mags. That situation certainly isn't going to last long! :)

Hi Guys

The company that make them are Rowan Engineering. They have been making a similar mag for the Air Arms S400 for a few months and it is proving very popular. Here's a link to their website http://www.rowanengineering.co.uk/.
