"Urban Safari" - Crosmans Go Hunting
« on: January 19, 2008, 03:58:13 PM »
My friend and I just got back from a record Grackle hunt in urban San Antonio.  He's hunting with a relatively stock 2250 and I'm hunting with a very modified 1377 which is now a .22 with a 15" barrel.  With 10 pumps I am hitting as hard as his CO2 gun.  We prefer the carbine sized guns because we hunt from my truck.  A full sized rifle would be to hard to maneuver and way to obvious to anyone who would happen to see us.  Stealth is key, since this prime hunting ground is near a strip of about ten fast-food restaurants.

Anyway, we dropped 14 Grackles in about an hours worth of hunting.  No pictures though since we're on the move while hunting these vermin.  Would be a hell of a shot, our two Crosmans next to 14 birds!  I will try and get a video of this Grackle infestation soon...its hard to believe.

Very cool! Whack those black avian vermin! I'm bettin' half your infestation flew south from here when the weather turned cold. I have had a flock of 40 or more of the scum in my yard, virtually everyday when they are up here in the spring and summer. My yard has become the "killing fields" for those noisy, obnoxious, dirty pests. I often smack 4 or more of them a day in my yard.

Pic from one afternoon last summer:

The current stable, (arsenal, quiver?): BSA Lightning XL .177, BSA Sportsman HV .22, BSA Ultra .177, CZ634 .177, Daystate Harrier X .177, TAU 200 Senior .177, HW 97 .177, HW 50s .177, HW 30 .177, RWS 92 .177, Gamo 126 MC Super, Gamo Big Cat .177, AR2078A, QB78 .177, Quest 1000 .177, Beeman SS650 .177., Beeman P17 .177.

I'm picking up subtle hints that Stephanie doesn't like those black flying birds   :)

That rifle,,, and the dead avian scum,  look great by the way.   Keep up the good work........

Here are a couple of videos of the grackle swarm in San Antonio.  They seem to be heaviest in the late evening.
