need help

hi my name is Andrew i' am new to forum and i have learned a lot from the group but i have a few questions, i am about to buy a Gamo viper i have heard they have had alot of trouble with the scope, so my plans are to upgrade the scope with a leapers 3-9x40 AO mil-dot scope with r/g 1" tube. my question is will this scope work with this gun and what kind of mounts would i need for this scope. i will take any suggestions on this matter about any other scopes that are in the same price range that would work with this set-up i am interesting in!

Hiya, Andrew! Welcome to GTA.

The scope you have picked is a great choice. I would highly recommend the Leapers or Accushot 1-piece mount (medium height) as this mount will help to keep the scope from "creeping" as it is prone to do with 2-piece mounts. It sounds like you will have a great combination when you are done! Post some pics of your rifle when you can.

Is the viper .177 or the .22 , I have a viper in .177 and replaced only the scope,I reused the mount which I believe to be a accushot medium,I put on a Tasco 6-24x42, And had to drill the riser so I could shift it as far back as I could because I chose a very long scope,but I think you will be just fine with a 3-9,     And welcome to the GTA  and remember there are no stupid questions here

Welcome Andrew,,, nice to have you onboard.  I have a couple of those scopes, work real well.  I'd also go with a 1 piece accushot mount.  Looking forward to your future posts.   And if you hunt be sure to post the pics and stories int he "hunting Gate".....

Yes Welcome to GTA Andrew, I also have one of them with the one piece mount which I prefer and it's mounted on my Viper.177. No problem's with it , good scope. Again welcome and feel free to post some hunt stories and or pic's in our Hunting gate, we love dem pic's of your baby with a harvest that she dropped.     Ed
