Riley is coming home.
« on: January 24, 2008, 01:24:59 PM »
For those of you that have been asking about and keeping up on Riley’s progress and praying for him. Riley will be coming home tomorrow.

It's a sad day. We have been informed that there is nothing more that can be done for Riley and it's almost over. In the past over two years, everything that could possibly be done, has been done to save him. The little guy’s has never given up, fought to live and fooled the doctors who had given up hope several times in the past but now his little three year old body is fast losing the battle that he has struggled with almost his entire short life. It’s all that he has ever really known but he will soon be relieved of the pain and agony. As it stands now the doctors have given him possibly 30 or so days. He could possibly live about 90 days with more Chemo treatments but they make him very very sick and weak and absolutely miserable.

The doctors presented the option of going with the Chemo again with the accompanying misery and extending his life for maybe 90 days in the hospital or allowing him go home and letting things take it’s natural course and be with his family for the next few weeks or with what little time he has left. With that in mind, we want him with us now. By bringing him home, it seems that he will just get weaker and weaker but he will be wth his family and those that love him until the time comes that the Lord will take him by his little hand and take him to His home.

Please, for those of you that believe, if you will, pray for little Riley to get through this final phase of his short life with as little discomfort as possible and that God will smile upon him and show his compassion.

This has been a very hard day in this old mans heart.

Thanks to all of you.

Bob, when I read the first line a smile came over my face, then I read on.:0 My thoughts and prayers will be with Riley and your family. The hardest thing I ever had to do was tell my father goodbye,he was diagnosed with cancer in`79, he said he was to tired to fight anymorein`92, but I wouldn't trade that oppertunity for anything. Now take a vacation, enjoy the rest of the time you have with Riley.

Bob, it's been a fight from the start with the little guy, time to let him rest, it's so darn hard when it's some one so young. Just have to let him go, at times like this we feel so helpless. Can't say much more.........Mike

Very sad news, Bob.  My thoughts are with you, Riley and the whole family too.  I know what it's like to have to make decisions like that, and it's never easy.  I hope Riley's last days are filled with love.  Hopefully he has enough good days to help make the time happy.  Strange though it seems, sometimes after a long fight like this, the end is freeing for everyone (though it won't seem so at the time).

Take care, and take time.

Dear Bob, I am like all the rest of the guys who have responded to this news about Riley, so very sorry. The only joy to be found in this is the fact that little Rileys suffering is over, PRAISE THE GOOD LORD! Bob, in times like this I find great comfort in Romans 8:28.

That's sad to hear Bob.  I've always this saying in my head and remembered it when my parents died:

"Life is a grand adventure, but it pales in comparisson to the greatest adventure of all."

If it's any consolation, he'll be going to a better place and onto better things. If little Riley is anything like I imagine him to be, his adventure hasn't even started yet. He'll live on... Here or in the next world.

Bob, your family made the right decision. The air rifles can wait, take some time and be with your family! Cancer has struck my immediate family twice, and I have seen what those $3000 bags of tree juice do to an adults body. I couldn't imagine seeing a 3 year old endure that. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, and especially with Riley. May the pain and suffering end peacefully.

God bless

I'm sorry to hear that Bob. I thought after your last report that things were turning fo the better. You all have made the right choice to bring him home. The hospital is a dreaded place to be sick or not. I will pray as will my daughters class for Riley to have as much comfort during these trying times.
